Hey, thank you very much for your reply! That reassures me a little that I'm not alone with this problem and that I've had a similar case before. Do you remember what the whole thing cost you financially on the bill? And have you had any further complications since replacing the cable connection or did the car run smoothly again afterwards?

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for, to help each other, right? So about the costs - I paid €365 to fix the damaged cable connection on the selector lever. That was quite a lot of money, but hey, safety has its price. And to your second question - since I had it done in the workshop, everything has been running smoothly again and there have been no further problems with the gearshift. So the fault with the gear selector lever was definitely fixed. I hope this helps you and puts your mind at ease!

Thank you, really! Yes, that's exactly what forums are for. The amount makes me a little dizzy, but I agree with you, safety first. I'm reassured to know that everything went smoothly for you again after the repair. I'll probably take my car to the garage and hope it's nothing worse. Thank you again for your advice and experience. Stay safe too!

Hello, exactly the same problem happened to me with my Toyota Yaris from 2016. At around 100,000 km, the engine light was flashing and the gearshift was quite inaccurate. After a diagnosis at the garage, it turned out that the cable connection on the gear selector was damaged. This is a serious problem because it can affect the control of the car. In my case, the mechanic had to replace the entire cable connection. So I wouldn't hesitate and take your car to the garage as soon as possible before it gets worse. Stay safe!
