Seeking Troubleshooting Tips for Low Engine Oil Pressure Issues in 2021 Seat Tarraco Gasoline Model

Metal shavings in oil

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of a bother with my 2021 Seat Tarraco Gasoline model. The oil light keeps flashing, I've spotted some nasty metal shavings in the oil, and there's this weird warning light on my speedometer that just won't quit. My gut tells me this could be down to low engine oil pressure. Anybody out there faced similar issues and got it sorted at a workshop? Would love to benefit from your wisdom and get some tips to troubleshoot this. Cheers!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 Seat Leon, so I reckon I have some experience to share. Mind you, I'm no car guru, but I can hold my own under the hood. What did the trick for me was a full engine oil change because it turned out, Incorrect engine oil was causing all the fuss. It set me back about 175.00 Euro at the local workshop. They were tops and really knew their stuff. In your case, you might want to check the type of oil being used. Could you tell us what type of oil your Tarraco has in it right now? Knowing that will help in providing a more accurate diagnosis. Stay cool and good luck with the fix!

Hey! Appreciate the advice! To be honest, I couldn't tell you the exact type of oil I've got running in my Tarraco right now. Just checked the previous service receipt, nothing mentioned there specifically. Just the typical "top-grade engine oil" phrase. But considering the mileage - 142561 KM - and your advice, I reckon a full oil change might just be the trick! I'll sure head down to the workshop soon. I'll be paying attention to what type of oil goes in this time. Cheers again for your help!

You're welcome! Yeah, the specifics in the oil type really matter, it isn't just a detail. For your Seat Tarraco and considering your mileage, I'd recommend high-quality synthetic oil suitable for high mileage cars, possibly a 5W-30, but of course, that still depends on your engine's specification and your local weather conditions. Your issue genuinely rings a bell. Saw it heaps when I was dealing with my Seat Leon. My guts told me it was the use of incorrect oil type mingling with metal shavings that affected the oil pressure. For what it's worth, getting the oil changed, the oil filter replaced and if necessary, having the oil pump checked worked wonders for me. Remember to ask your mechanic to clean the oil pan to get out those naughty metal shavings - they can do serious harm if left unchecked. Best of luck, and let us know how it goes! Cheers!

You're a real lifesaver! Armed with your advice, I'll certainly go and request the top-quality synthetic oil you recommended. I'm going to make sure they replace that oil filter and check the pump while they're at it. And those naughty metal shavings won't be a problem anymore - I'll see to that personally. Your sound advice makes me feel a good bit more hopeful about getting my Tarraco back on track. Much appreciated, and I'll definitely let you know how I get on. Cheers!
