Seeking Tips to Fix Headlamp Leveller and Warning Light Issues in a 2007 Volvo XC90 Hybrid

Headlamp leveller malfunction

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey folks, I'm running into a tricky situation with my 2007 Volvo XC90 Hybrid. Lately, it's been acting up with the headlamp leveller not working right and a persistent warning light on the speedometer. I've a hunch it might be something to do with the headlight range control, but I'm really not certain. Has anyone else experienced something similar, or have any tips for pinpointing the problem? What was your solution journey like? Any advice from how you managed to get this issue sorted at your workshop would be highly appreciated. Cheers!

Hey! It seems like we've been on the same boat. Just a while back, I had a very similar issue with my 2005 Volvo S60. It's quite close to your XC90 Hybrid in terms of built and features. Now, I'm no mechanic, just someone with a bit of car knowledge, or as my s call me, a weekend warrior. Ended up that my problem was a Defective servomotor in the headlight. Had to bite the bullet and pay a grand, around 1040 Euro, to get it fixed at my local workshop. They did a great job though - haven't had the problem again since; headlight leveling's been working like a dream. Can you tell me more about your symptoms and warning codes, ? Maybe I can dig a bit more into my experience and give you some personalised advice, as different symptoms might indicate other issues. Keep us posted!

Hi! Preciate the input! Never would've guessed a servomotor could be the culprit. Next time I start my car, I'll keep an eye on it for any more specific warning codes. Just a quick bit of info, my XC90 Hybrid's got a high mileage - I've driven it for about 145,051 KM - think that could impact things? Also, its last servicing was done quite recently. By the by, when you took your S60 to the workshop, did they run any diagnostic tests? Was thinking of getting one done, maybe it'll shed more light on what's going wrong with my headlamp leveller. Cheers, and keep well!

Hey again, Your high mileage could indeed play a part in this. These machines are built to last, but more than 145,000 KM does mean more wear and tear. The servomotor is a part of it all that might wear out after all those miles. Yes, the workshop did run some diagnostic tests on my S60! They hooked it up to a diagnostic machine which points out the issues in most cases. It does cost extra, but it's worth it to know what exactly is going wrong. Just a piece of advice, while you're there make sure they have a look at your headlamp assembly as well. If the servomotor in the headlamp is the actual trouble, there's a chance that other parts of the assembly might be affected as well. Take care of your beast! I hope to hear good news soon. Cheers!

Hey, Really can't thank you enough for your advice! I’ll get that diagnostic test and check the headlamp assembly along with the servomotor. Would feel much better knowing the whole problem than taking wild guesses. Yeah, the old girl's been with me through thick and thin, wouldn't want her to suffer unnecessarily. Will give you folks a shout when I have some updates from the workshop. Much appreciated! Drive safe and take care. Cheers!
