Hey, thanks so much for the helpful insight. You might've just saved me a ton of headache guessing what's wrong. Just curious, do you remember what kinda dent this put in your wallet, getting that wiring harness sorted out? And has anything else cropped up related to this since you got it fixed? Appreciate you sharing your experience, cheers!

Hey, happy to help! As for the cost, to fix the wiring harness/plug, it ran me around 95€, which honestly isn't too brutal considering how crucial it is for the car's proper functioning. Since I had the fuel pump defect sorted out, no more black smoke or engine shut-offs - it's been smooth sailing. Not only am I breathing easier without that check engine light glaring at me all the time, but my old Volvo is purring like a kitten again, too. You've got this, don't sweat it! Cheers!

That's a relief! Sounds like it's more affordable than I imagined. And if it's going to sort out all these annoying issues and get my V60 back to its former glory, I'd say it's worth every penny. I'll get an appointment with a reliable mechanic soon, and hopefully, sorting out the wiring harness will do the trick. Thanks a ton for all the advice and reassurances! It's got me feeling a lot more optimistic about dealing with this. Catch you later, cheers!

Hey, I reckon your symptoms seem similar to the trouble I had with my 2012 Volvo V60 Diesel a while back. You're right on the money with a possible fuel pump defect. The wiring harness/plug issue sounds like it could be the culprit too. In my case, had an annoying check engine light and power loss just like yours. Turned out to be a faulty wiring harness. This was pretty serious as it messes with fuel injection and engine timing causing all sort of erratic behaviours you mentioned. My mechanic had to clean and tighten the connectors and there was some soldering involved. In the worst scenario, replacing the entire wiring harness might be needed, but that's an extreme case. In my case, the harness only needed minor tweaks and it was good as new. Remember to get this fixed as soon as possible though. If left unchecked, it could lead to some real damage over time. Hope this helps, good luck!
