Seeking Solutions for Overheating and AC Issues in 2021 Seat Tarraco Hybrid

Air conditioning blows warm air

Overheating

Hey fellow car geeks, I've got a weird issue with my 2021 Seat Tarraco Hybrid. Of late, the AC's been only blowing warm air and the car seems to be overheating regularly. My gut tells me the electric fan might be acting up, but not entirely sure. Has anyone ever encountered this problem and found out exactly what was going wrong? More interested in what your mechanics did to fix the problem. Your experiences and advice will be really helpful. Thanks!

Hey there! I'm not any sort of automobile expert, just a guy with some experience dealing with cars. I had a similar issue with my 2016 Seat Leon ST a couple of years back. The issue turned out to be a defective electric fan control unit/resistor. I took it to my trusted local workshop and they diagnosed and resolved the problem. The repair cost me around 480 Euro. It's definitely not cheap but it stopped the overheating and brought back the chills in the AC. Without having a look at your car, it's hard to say if it's the same exact issue. Can you share more details on the symptoms or any error messages popping up? This might help identify if it's the same issue I had.

Hey! Thanks for the quick response. No error messages shown up yet, just not cooling as I said and overheating. Maybe it’s the same thing since symptoms are pretty similar. My Tarraco does a lot of city driving and it's at 112645 KM on the dial, so wear and tear are possibilities. I'm gonna take it in for a check at my local garage, they usually figure out stuff. Thanks for the pointer about fan control unit/resistor - I'll mention it to them. Cheers!

Hey! Glad to be of help. The city driving and mileage could indeed be contributing factors, as you said. From personal experience, frequent stop-and-go type traffic adds extra load on the fan, as it works harder to cool the engine given less natural airflow. So your assumption might be spot on. When you take your Tarraco to the garage, along with the fan control unit/resistor, ask them to check the coolant level too just to be safe. It's another common cause of overheating. And yes, if there's any leakage in your AC system, that might cause it to blow warm. Freon leaks can be sneaky buggers. Anyhow, hope your local guys can get to the bottom of this. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Hey, you've been a lifesaver! It actually didn't cross my mind to check the coolant levels and the AC for leaks. You're right about the sneaky Freon leaks. I'll definitely mention it to my garage. The more I talk about it, the more I feel fans and traffic grind could be the culprits. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply with such detail. I'll update you guys once it's sorted. Thanks again!
