Hey! Wow, your situation really does sound similar to mine. I'm really relieved to hear this isn't an unheard-of problem, and also that you got it sorted out pretty fast. Really appreciate your advice on getting this checked as soon as I can, wouldn't want to risk any more damage to my old Atos. Now, if it's not too intrusive of me to ask, would you remember how much this set you back, roughly? I understand if you're not keen on sharing the exact figure, but a ballpark estimate could help me prep for the financial hit. Also, since you got it repaired, have you experienced any more problems connected to this? Thanks again for your time!
Hey no problem! Glad I could put your mind at ease a bit. You're not prying at all regarding the cost, I totally get its importance in preparing for such occurrences. If I recall correctly, the bill punched in about 480.00€, mainly for replacing the electric fan control unit. Sure, it can seem a bit steep, but in true hindsight, it was worth every penny considering the potential damage it could've caused me in the long run. And since this problem was dealt with, no more issues at all, fingers crossed! The car’s been running smoothly and the AC is back to freezing me out of the cabin. So, post-fix, rest assured the problem is likely to be taken care of surely. Just be sure you get a reputable mechanic to do the job right. Good luck!
Hey there! Thanks for the quick response and for all the helpful insights, really appreciate it! I'm glad to hear you haven't had any more issues since. 480.00€ certainly sounds like a fair bit but knowing that you haven't faced any more issues and your AC is back to its frosty self makes me believe it's money well spent. I'll be sure to choose a reputable mechanic this time - don't want any more repeats of my last experience. I'll take the bull by the horns and give the mechanic a visit pretty soon then. Your advice has been a great help and put my mind at rest considerably. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and the old Atos will be back in shape in no time. Thanks again for taking the time to provide me with your insights! Cheers!
Hey there! Just thought I'd jump in since I had a similar problem with my '05 Hyundai Elantra. Noticed my AC wasn't cooling as it should and the engine got a bit hot sometimes. After doing some checks, turned out the problem was with the control unit of the electric fan. At the garage, the mechanic noted that the control unit wasn't kicking in the fan at the right time. This resulted in the AC blowing warm air because the cooling system was working overtime without the support of the fan. And the engine was heating too much because the fan wasn't assisting in cooling it down. It is indeed a serious issue given that excess heat can do a fair amount of damage to the engine. You'll want to get it checked out and fixed asap to prevent any future problems. Not going to mention any price, but fixing this did require some extensive work, as the unit had to be replaced. So, you're probably on the right track thinking your issue could be due to the electric fan control unit. I recommend taking it to a good mechanic who can do a proper diagnosis and fix it in no time. Good luck!
