Seeking Solutions for Non-functioning Brake Light on 2024 Seat Tarraco Hybrid
Brake light not working

Hey! Cheers for the advice, really appreciate it. I checked and the parking brake isn't the issue. It's sorted, but the brake light still giving me grief. Sadly, I don't have any error codes that I can share, I'm really no expert in this - often get by with some basic car language. My Tarraco is quite well-traveled - she's been on the road for 148278 KM km. For sure, she's been serviced regularly, and the last one was a few months back. They didn't flag any brake issues then so this really tickles my brain. If anyone else has been through the same sort of trouble with their brake lights, I'd be glad to hear your story, especially if your ride is a Seat, 2024 model or thereabouts. Cheers!
Hey again! Thanks for getting back. Sorry to hear the parking brake wasn't the issue. Shame I couldn't solve your problem on the first try - but hey, I guess we are both still on that 'learning from messing up' track, eh? Hmm... without any specific error codes it can be a bit tricky, but we can still try some all tried and true methods. Since you've got a 2024 Seat model (which is only a couple years older than my Leon), I'm thinking similarities might still apply. You said you've had your last service a few months back... and no brake issues were flagged then, correct? Sounds like an electrical or connectivity issue to me. Sometimes, with a high-mileage vehicle like yours, the issue could be as simple as a burnt-out brake light bulb. How about trying to replace the brake lights? You know, just in case. If you're not up to the task, I bet any of your gearhead buddies or a local garage can do it. Shouldn't be too tedious or costly. Again, it's hard to pinpoint the exact issue remotely and without the error codes, but other common issues might be a bad brake light switch (which ironically can sometimes not show an error code) or even a dirty or corroded bulb socket. Keep us updated on how things progress. Just doing our bit in the great wide world of car DIY solutions! Cheers!
Thanks for the in-depth response! Yep, we are indeed on the 'learning from messing up' trail, aren't we?. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your insights. Agreed, it's a bit of a head-scratcher without any specific error codes. I think you're onto something with the potential electrical or connectivity issue. It could indeed be as simple as a burnt-out brake light bulb – thanks for mentioning that – or even a dirty bulb socket. My old girl got quite a bit of mileage. I'll try swapping out the bulb and having a look at the socket. If my skills prove lacking, there are a few friends (and my trusty local garage) who might come to my rescue. Also, will keep an eye out for that brake light switch problem you mentioned. I'll post updates on how things progress, hoping that a new bulb or a bit of cleaning does the trick, and true to the spirit of our community, it may help another fellow out there! Thanks again for all the inputs. Happy fixing, everyone! Cheers!
Hey there! Sounds oddly familiar. I drive a 2022 Leon from Seat (same brand but different model), and I dealt with the same finicky brake light issue not too long ago. My level of car expertise is "some experience", but most of it's learning from messing up, y'know? Turned out, there was no fee for the fix because it was just a error on my end. It was more embarrassing than exciting. I simply forgot to release my parking brake completely (silly me), causing the brake light to stay on. So I'd suggest, have a look at your parking brake. It might just be that. Good luck! Also, can you provide info on any specific error codes you might have? That'd help to give more detailed advice if releasing the parking brake doesn't solve your problem.
