Seeking Solutions for Increased Bounce and Uneven Ride Height in 2018 Hyundai Santro

Uneven Ride Height

|

Excessive Bouncing

Hey fellow car buffs, I'm having a bit of a weird issue with my 2018 Hyundai Santro (Gas engine) that I hope you can help with. Lately, it's been bouncing way more than usual and the ride height is uneven. I'm thinking it could be a compressor issue with the air suspension, but I'm totally open to your ideas. Anybody experienced this before? Would love to hear how you got it sorted out at your workshop. Appreciate your insights!

Hey! I'm certainly no professional mechanic but I know a thing or two about cars. Had a pretty similar problem with my 2016 Hyundai i10 a couple of years ago. Turned out, you were spot on - the air compressor was indeed kaput! Sorted it out at a local workshop, and they did a pretty decent job at fixing it. It cost me about 890 Euro, which hurt the pocket a bit, but at least it got the car bouncing back to normal, pun intended. Gathering more info about your problem could help. What's your car's mileage? Had any other repair work done recently? Provide a bit more detail and I might be able to help you out better. All the best with it!

Hey there! Thanks for the response. Good to know I'm not off with my guess. My Santro's got 121896 km on the odometer, ain't no spring chicken anymore! As for repairs, nothing major recently aside from routine services. Do you reckon it's worth getting the compressor replaced at a branded service center, considering the cost? Cheers!

Hey again! Yeah, with those kilometers on the clock it's no surprise you might start to see a few issues creeping in, but fear not, they can be overcome! As for your question, I'd say it really comes down to personal preference and weighing up the pros and cons. From my experience, getting it replaced at a branded, authorized Hyundai service center may indeed cost more, but you do get peace of mind that the job's done right, and with OEM parts too! They'll usually throw in a warranty for their works, which is financially handy if the problem decides to make an encore appearance. On the flip side, a local garage might get you out the door for less, but you could miss out on that warranty and assurance of OEM parts. However, if you trust your mechanic and they have a good reputation, it may not be an issue. Keep in mind that if the suspension system is starting to fail, other components might not be far behind. So it's definitely worth getting a full suspension check while you're getting the compressor replaced. Stay safe on the road and keep us posted on how things pan out! Cheers!

Hey, really appreciate the comprehensive advice! I think you're right about the pros and cons. The warranty from the service center is certainly tempting, but I'll also check with the local workshop I usually go to. I'll definitely ask them to do a full suspension check as well. You've been a great help! Will let you guys know how things go. Safe driving to you too! Cheers!
