Seeking Solutions for Flickering Lights and Warning Indicator on 2023 Diesel Seat Tarraco

Dim or flickering lights

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey folks, I've got a bit of a puzzler with my 2023 Diesel Seat Tarraco. The lights are acting wonky, dimming and flickering on their own, and a warning light just popped up on my speedometer. Now, I've got a hunch it may be due to a software glitch, but I'm really keen to hear if anyone else has experienced a similar issue? Could you share how your mechanic diagnosed and resolved it? Just trying to figure out the best fix while saving myself some unnecessary hassle and expense. Any experiences, advice, or tips you've got, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my 2021 Seat Leon not too long ago. I'm by no means a car guru, just have some experience with my own rides over the years. Anyway, my mechanic found that my Engine Control Unit (ECU) needed to be replaced. It's a piece of the car's computer system that controls a series of actuators in the internal combustion engine to ensure optimal engine performance. So I went ahead and got it replaced, it cost me about 240.00 Euro, not cheap, but necessary. However, the warning lights persisted for a while after the replacement. It turns out the new ECU wasn’t programmed to my car. So I went back to the shop and they sorted it out. All in all, I'd suggest taking it to a professional unless you're quite handy with car repairs. Also, is your Tarraco under warranty? That could help with costs. Do you have any Check Engine Light (CEL) codes? They could pinpoint what's causing the issue. Anyway, I hope that helps and good luck sorting it out! Cheers!

Hey, appreciate the response! Your experience sounds almost identical to what I'm going through. No CEL codes yet but based on what you've shared, I guess it might be the ECU in my Tarraco acting up. Good point about the warranty, I hadn't even thought to check that. I’ll see if the warranty still covers it; my clock is sitting on 83747 KM so fingers crossed. And you're right, I think I'll be needing a pro to take a look at it. Not much of a grease monkey myself. The programming bit sounds especially tricky. I’ll make sure to ask them to check on that as well if it ends up being an ECU problem. Again, thanks for the tip and sharing your experience. I'll update you after taking it to the mechanic. Cheers!

No problem! Yeah, unfortunately these things can happen with any car. It's definitely best to have a pro take a look at it. It might even end up being a simpler issue than what I had. Just make sure to nudge them on the programming part if it does turn out to be the ECU. One more thing, keep an eye on those CEL codes. They might come up and give more insights into the problem. And yes, fingers crossed on that warranty! Take care and don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions or just need to vent about car troubles. Will be waiting for your updates. Good luck, hope it gets sorted soon. Cheers!

Hey, thanks a bunch! Your advice has been really helpful. I'm taking the Tarraco in first thing tomorrow. Will get those CEL codes checked and fingers crossed it's something simple or covered by the warranty. I reckon I will need all the good luck I can get. Haha, appreciated the offer to vent, you might regret it if it's a biggie. Will definitely let you know how it goes. Thanks again and take care! Cheers!
