G’day! The issue first cropped up a couple of weeks ago. Just like you, I first thought it was due to the sweltering summer heat. But, funny enough, the warm air from the vents remained constant regardless of the weather, so that ruled out my initial theory. As for the symptoms – besides the warm air, I noticed an unusual smell; akin to the 'new car smell', but oddly heavier. That got my spidey-senses tingling. To answer your question, nope, there hasn't been any recent checks or replacements done to the wiring harness. My last service was clocked at exactly 119808 km on the odometer, but no wiring issues were raised then. Could that smell possibly be related to the wiring problem? Thanks for your input, by the way. Much appreciated! Cheers!
Hey again, Thanks for the extra info! It's quite possible that this unusual heavy 'new car' smell you're getting might be related to some sort of electrical issue. I don't recall experiencing that with my Lexus, but then again, every case can be different. If it's an issue with the wiring harness as it was with mine, you'd be looking at a possible faulty connection or even a short circuit somewhere. This could account for the warm air problem and possibly even the smell if some materials are heating up more than they should. Although your last dealer service didn't bring up any wiring issues, I'd recommend going back or finding another trusted mechanic and specifically asking them to check out the wiring harness in relation to the AC problem, especially given what you've described. It's always better to play it safe, right? You wouldn't want a simple problem to escalate and end up costing the earth! Stay cool and keep us posted on what you find out! Cheers!
Hey! Great advice! Reckon you're right about the need for a thorough look at the wiring harness, considering what you've shared. Safety trumps everything else and a stitch in time saves nine, right? Will get in touch with my local garage and give them your heads-up about the AC problem and the potential wiring issue. Thanks a ton for your insights, really helps to get a second opinion from someone who has experienced similar troubles. Will drop a line updating on the outcome. Cheers and stay frosty!
Hey there, Just so happens I had a similar problem with my 2018 Lexus ES, not the same model, but close, eh? Now, I wouldn’t say I'm an auto wizard, but I have some experience tending to my own car issues. I figured something amiss and took it to my local garage. After some checks, they found that my issue was actually the wiring harness, not the solar sensor as I originally thought! There was a defect and they replaced it and, BOOM, problem solved! It set me back 155€, I believe. Do you know if your wiring has been checked or the harness replaced recently? Could provide a bit more info about when the issue started and any specific symptoms? That might help nail down if you're experiencing the same issue I had. Stay cool!
