Seeking Solutions for 2002 Fiat Albea: Steering Angle Sensor Communication Issues, ABS/DSC System Malfunctions, and Airbag Warning Light On

ABS/DSC system is not working

Airbag warning light

Fault stored

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of trouble with my 2002 Fiat Albea. The ABS/DSC system's acting up, I've seen an airbag warning light on, and the car's got a fault stored. I'm suspecting issues with the car's communication with the steering angle sensor. Has anyone else encountered this and could offer some guidance? What kind of solutions has your workshop provided for this? Thanks in advance for any help or shared experiences with this problem!

Hey, had a similar issue on my 2000 Fiat Punto - same brand, just a bit older model. I have some experience with cars - not a pro, but know my way around a bit. My ABS light was also on, and it turned out to be a defective cable connection to the sensor. No biggie, it set me back just about 155€. Just head to the workshop, and they'll sort it for you. It's a straightforward fix. By the way, do you know if your car's been recently serviced or had any other work done? It could give a bit more context on the problem. Hope this helps!

Cheers for the quick reply! My Albea's last pit stop was at 77282 km, so it's not been that long. Reading your experience, I'm slightly relieved that it might just be a sensor or a cable issue. Still, that airbag warning's got me worked up a bit. Guess I'll have to take 'er down to the shop and see what's what. Yeah, your input helped a lot, appreciate it!

No worries, happy to help out! That airbag warning could stem from various things. In my Punto, it was a loose connection under the passenger seat. Wiggled it back into place, and the warning light went off. However, that might not be your case. It's best to get it checked at a shop, as messing with airbag system at home is not recommended due to safety reasons. I know costs can be a concern but remember, no price tag on safety. Feel free to drop an update when you get it fixed, I'm curious to know what was the culprit. All the best!

Will do! I'm hoping it's just a loose connection like yours, fingers crossed. You're right about safety - wouldn't want to risk a DIY job on this one. You've been really helpful. I'll drop by the shop first thing tomorrow and get to the bottom of it. Once it's all sorted out, I'll post an update here so you and others can learn from my woes. Thanks a ton for the advice! Cheers!
