Seeking Solution for Engine Troubles on 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid: Possible Throttle Valve Potentiometer Issue

Poor fuel economy

Engine shuts off by itself

Jerking on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Check engine light on

Unsteady engine

Hey folks, got a weird issue with my 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid. The check engine light is on, it's randomly shutting off, losing power, idling rough, jerking when I accelerate, and guzzling gas like nobody's business. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the throttle valve potentiometer. Anyone had a similar problem? Would love to hear about your DIY fixes or your experience at the shop. Cheers!

Hey there, I had a similar rough run with my 2018 Renault Megane a while back, quite a pickle, wasn't it? I'm not a car pro, just got some hands-on experience here and there. Took it to my local workshop and they narrowed it down to a buggered throttle valve, which aligns with your guess. For my Megane, it cost me about 345 euro. Hopefully, it won't set you back more. Sounds like your Arkana might have a similar disorder. However, to be absolutely on the nose, I would need more specific information about your car. Let me know some more details so I can try to help you out, more efficiently.

Hey there! Aw, sounds like your Megane was put through the ringer a bit, eh? Appreciate you sharing your experience! For my Arkana, I've clocked about 58051 km, and I've been religiously keeping up with my regular service, the latest being just a month ago. With everything seeming A-okay then, this sudden problem is a bit of a bummer. But now that you've mentioned it, pretty sure I should be looking at the throttle valve. Will try to give it a go myself before I hit the shop and lighten my wallet. Thanks for putting me on the right track! Cheers!

Hey, comrade in car troubles! Seems like you've been taking care of your Arkana real well. Hate that you're having to deal with this issue despite all that. But hey, cars sometimes have a mind of their own, don't they? Ok, so 58051 km and regular servicing... Hard to predict these things, isn't it? With mine, it wasn't so much the mileage, but rather just wear and tear over the years, that led to it. If you're up for it, you might try cleaning the throttle body first. That's one of the DIYs I picked up. I mostly just removed the throttle body, sprayed some cleaner in there, and put it back together. Simple as pie. Keep in mind though, if you're not used to doing your own car repairs, this might be more of an intermediate level job. But before you dive in, make sure you double-check with some Renault-specific forums or maybe even your Arkana's manual to ensure you don't need any specific procedure or tools. You wouldn't want to turn a simple fix into an expensive repair! Regardless, hope this helps a bit. Fingers crossed for your Arkana! Let us know how it goes. Cheerio!

Hey! Always great to meet another car enthusiast who doesn't mind getting their hands a bit dirty! Absolutely spot on, our four-wheeled friends do have a will of their own at times! I reckon, wear and tear does play its fair share, and I guess mine has had its fair bit of road exposure. Thanks for the tip about cleaning the throttle body first. Will definitely give it a shot this weekend. I'm not a total newbie when it comes to DIY maintenance, but I'll heed your advice and keep that manual close, just to avoid any rookie mistakes. Really appreciate your help and the well wishes! I'll keep you posted on how everything pans out. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to share your knowledge. Have a good one! Cheers!
