Seeking Guidance on Airbag System Failure in 2013 Lexus IS with Gasoline Engine

Fault stored

Airbag warning light

Hey! I'm seeing some odd behavior on my 2013 Lexus IS with the Gasoline engine. Notably the airbag warning light has come on and I've got a fault stored. Airbag system failure seems like the probable culprit to me, but I'd love some additional guidance to help me nail this down. Has anyone else dealt with this, and how did you sort it at the garage? Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there, sounds like a jam we've all been in before. Had a similar problem on my 2011 Lexus GS a while back, darn airbag warnings and all. I wouldn't say I'm a mechanic, but I've been around the block a few times with car stuff. Hit up my local workshop with the issue. Long story short, some of the Airbag system components were defective. It took some time, but theyaged to fix it without costing me a dime, lucky me! Seems like we're sailing in the same boat here. Can you give more details on the symptoms your car has? That could help narrow down the fault a bit more.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Besides the airbag warning light, my Lexus IS has been running just fine honestly. No loud noises or apparent breakdowns, just a little sluggish on acceleration now and then but I think that's due to the mileage, 144509 KM by the way. About 2 months ago, I got the spark plugs and oil filter replaced in my last service. Don't know if it can be related but thought it's worth mentioning. It's just the airbag warning light that's been a bit of a head-scratcher for me.

Hey, no problem! Well, it sounds like your Lexus IS is well cared for. The sluggish acceleration can definitely be the result of high mileage, so no immediate worries there. And while spark plugs and oil filter changes are important, they aren't typically related to the airbag warning light. Given what you've shared, I'd still bet it's a fault in the airbag system. Those warning lights are pretty specific and rarely come on unless there's an actual issue. It could be as simple as a sensor glitch, but it could also be a faulty airbag component. To be safe, I'd head down to a trusted garage and have the system checked out. Remember, it's always better to be safe with things directly related to safety features of your car. Good luck! Let's hope it's not too serious and gets sorted out soon.

Sure thing! I can't thank you enough for your prompt assistance. I'll head over to my local garage and get it thoroughly checked. Safety first, as you've rightly put. I'm hoping it's nothing too severe as well. Will definitely let you know how it pans out. Cheers for all the help!
