Seeking guidance on 2004 Hyundai Getz Electrical Issues and Trustworthy Mechanics

Dim or flickering lights

General electric malfunction

Weak battery when starting the engine

Fault stored

Hey! I've got a bit of a puzzler with my 2004 Hyundai Getz (petrol, 119963KM on the clock). Been dealing with some electrical gremlins lately - weaker battery on start, lights acting funky, and a fault stored. Kinda suspecting Terminal 30 might be the culprit. Anyone ever dealt with something similar and got some insight to share? Especially keen to hear about your experiences with trustworthy mechanics. Last dude left me feeling less than confident. Cheers!

Hey! Got to admit, I had a similar mystery with my 2001 Hyundai Sonata a while back. Beast had run around 110K, and started acting like it was possessed or something. Battery was going weak on starts, headlights were dimming, all that jazz. Turned out it was a two-part story: Battery was defective and alternator wasn't charging it properly. My mechanic, a thorough bloke, first ran a test on the battery and then found out the alternator was also having a merry dance. Battery was an easy fix, just got a new one. For the alternator, required quite a bit of tinkering to get it replaced but it sorted all my electrical problems. So, you might want to get your Terminal 30 and alternator checked bud. Unfortunately, some shady mechanics can miss the mark, but I lucked out with mine. Just don't ignore it, the issue can turn serious if left untreated. Good luck fixing your ride!

Hey there! Super grateful for your insight! Starting to think my Hyundai Getz is throwing the same kind of party as your Sonata was. I'm going to have the battery and alternator checked, but if it's the latter, I hope it won't be too big of a headache. Just out of curiosity, do you remember offhand how much it set you back to sort out the battery and alternator? Also, has anything else cropped up since you had all that sorted, or has your Sonata been behaving itself on the road? Cheers for any info you can remember!

Hey! Ah, the memories. You're taking me on a bit of a nostalgia trip here. So, to address your concern, it cost me around 290 Euro to sort out that defective, naughty battery of mine. As for the alternator, it was quite a bit of work, but won’t break the bank, trust me. Now, about the Terminal 30 you mentioned earlier. Spot on! I forgot to mention that in my first message. Since I saw the mechanic and the battery got fixed, the interruption of terminal 30 was patched up too, and no other issues have popped up. So, I must say, my old Sonata's been pretty well behaved - driving like a dream, really! So, don't lose heart! Your Getz will be up and roaring in no time. Keep us posted, all the best!

Bloody hell! Thanks for putting my mind at ease. A bill of around 290 Euro doesn't sound too bad for a peace of mind and a smoothly running ride. Good to hear the Terminal 30 issue got sorted out for you too - that gives me hope. Your trusting words about the mechanic bring a wave of relief. Distressing times when you can't entirely trust your own car, you know? Hoping for a similar experience with mine on the road once it's fixed up, like your Sonata. Will definitely follow your sage advice and go back to my mechanic. Fingers crossed that a new battery and a fixed alternator will do the trick. Really appreciate the advice and the shared experience, it makes me feel a lot more hopeful about the future of my Getz. Will keep you updated. Thanks again. Cheers!
