Hey, back again! The whole shebang, if I remember right, set me back around 395 Euro. Decent chunk of change, but it did get the job done. That wiring harness was acting up, causing a lot of the mess you're seeing. Once it was cleaned up, we got the pesky glow plug under control too. No more smoke signals from the tailpipe, thank God! After that whole ordeal, I've been mostly lucky—knock on wood. Not too many surprises since then, just the usual wear and tear you'd expect with a car that age. Just keep an ear out for any new noises. That's usually the car trying to tell you something's up. Good luck with yours!
Thanks for the heads up! 395 Euro is a pinch, but if it gets the job done, then could be worth it. Definitely don't want any more surprise bonfire parties from the exhaust. Fingers crossed, the rest of my car continues to behave itself post all this drama. I'll be more attentive to the car's sounds now that you mentioned it. Let's see how it all goes down. Thanks again and here's to hoping neither of our rides give us any new rattles or squeaks! Cheers!
Hey! I feel your pain. I had a very similar issue with my 2013 Kia Rio Diesel, about 92k on the odometer. Unusual check engine light, smoking exhaust, the works. Long story short, after a fair amount of troubleshooting, my local mechanic figured the problem was with the wiring harness connecting the glow control unit to the engine control unit. Rubbish situation but, hey, cars, right? Getting this fixed did stop the smoke, resolved the engine light issue, and my DPF started regenerating as normal. So, based on what you're saying, it could possibly be the same thing? Not sure about the pre-glow light though, I didn't have that issue myself, might be worth checking out further. Definitely not what you want to hear, but even though this sounds like a pretty serious issue, it's no reason to panic yet. Just find a reliable mechanic, give him the lowdown on what my guys found when I had this issue, and hope he doesn't mess you about! Wishing you the best of luck with that!
