Hey, Wow, sounds like you had a real pickle with your Leon. An ECU issue, huh? That's a bummer, gotta admit it sounded like a simpler fix when I first started thinking it might be the charge air temperature sensor. But your story has given me a reality check, it might be much bigger than that. Before I cart off to the mechanics, got a quick question: Do you remember how much did it set you back, the whole ECU diagnostic and replacement thing? And since you had it fixed, any new issues crop up or strange behaviours from the car? Cheers!
Hey there, No worries, glad to share my experience. To answer your question, that ECU ordeal hit my pocket for a cool €1,000. Not exactly pocket change, I know, but it was vital to get my car back on track. As for the charge air temperature sensor you mentioned, I did actually have that checked out after I got the ECU sorted. Turns out there was a malfunction there as well, but thankfully it was all sorted out when I was at the mechanic. Since the fixes, my Leon's been running like a dream, no weird behaviour, no strange sounds. Been smooth sailing so far. Best of luck with getting your Tarraco sorted. Hope it's an easier fix than mine was! Cheers.
Hey, Thanks for giving me the lowdown on your experience, really appreciate it. Yeah, €1,000 is a bit of a whack but sounds worth it considering the symptoms you had are similar to mine. I mean, if it gets my Tarraco back to its good old self, it'll be money well spent. Interesting to know that there was indeed an issue with your charge air sensor also. I'll keep that in mind when I take my car in. Good to hear your Leon is doing well post-fixes, that gives me hope! Alright then, time to get my Tarraco checked out, fingers crossed it's not going to play out like a car horror movie sequel! Appreciate your advice and shared experience. Catch you later! Cheers.
Hey, Your engine problems sound really similar to what I experienced on my 2017 Seat Leon, just a couple years back. Black smoke, decreased fuel efficiency, hissing, you name it. Initially, I thought it could be a simple sensor change like you, but it turned out to be a bit more complex. The engine control unit (ECU) ended up being the culprit. This bad boy is the car's computer and controls quite a few subsystems related to engine performance, including fuel injection and ignition timing. When it goes haywire, it can really upset the apple cart. It’s a decently serious issue, affecting various aspects of your drive. Not necessarily catastrophic, but some real attention is needed, and fast. The big fix was a thorough diagnostic and eventually an ECU replacement. Keep in mind, though, that every car is different and my experience might not translate exactly to your situation. My advice? Get to a trusty mechanic and get a comprehensive diagnostic done first. It might end up saving you from an unnecessary headache in the long run. Hope this helps, and take care of that Tarraco! Cheers.
