Seeking Advice: Troubleshooting Key and Lock Issues in 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Locking/Unlocking issue

Key fob issues

Hey folks, I need your advice for my 2021 Renault Arkana, hybrid model, clocked 196,650km. Lately, it started freaking out – key won't register at times, locks are jamming, and a strange warning light on the speedo is giving me the creeps. My hunch points me to a kaput ignition key battery but post a shoddy past experience with the mechanic, I'm crazy skittish about it. Wondering if anyone has faced similar gremlins? If you did, how did your garage visit turn out? Share your war stories, anxiously looking for heads up.

Hey, I had a similar hassle with my 2023 Renault Kadjar, the sister vehicle of the Arkana. A right flippin headache, it was. The key would work only whenever it fancied, car locks misbehaved, and there was a weird light on the dashboard. Turns out it was just the ignition key battery run empty, just like your suspicion. Reckon I've clocked nearly 210,000km on it, so weird signs weren't totally out of the blue. Popped down to my local garage, chatted with the regular chaps there. They switched out the battery and viola, problem solved. Mind you, it wasn't some full-blown malady but more of an annoying niggling issue that was relatively easy to sort out. So don't sweat it too much, old sport, just needs a quick battery swap and she'll be right as rain. It's always big relief when it's not a serious problem, innit? Cheers!

Hey there, thanks for sharing. Sounds like a pretty similar situation I'm tangled up into - Maybe it's a Renault thing, heh? Honestly, a simple battery change does sound a lot less nightmarish than watching a mechanic dismantle my Arkana. Do you remember how much they charged you, by any chance? And has any other odd issue popped up since then? Guess you're right, it's a massive relief when it's just small things getting on your nerves. Loads of thanks for the heads up!

Hey there, so about your question regarding the cost. If I remember correctly, they only charged me a humble €37.50 to replace the key battery. Quite a pretty penny if you ask me, given the massive annoyance the issue was causing me. The good news is, ever since the mechanic fixed the issue, my Kadjar has been behaving like a newly-wed bride - no more nagging issues or oddities! Hope it turns out to be the same little gremlin for your Arkana. Night and day difference, it makes. Cheers, and best of luck!

That's a steal deal, considering my rampant anxiety - €37.50 and peace of mind back, sounds like a sweet bargain at the moment. Ridiculously happy to learn your Kadjar has been a good girl post the fix. Got my fingers crossed for my Arkana. You've no clue how reassuring it is to hear your experience. Absolutely relieved right now. Off to getting that little bugger sorted first thing tomorrow. Wish me luck, folks! You guys are the tops and I owe one to you. Thanks again and cheers!
