Seeking Advice: Renault Arkana Hybrid 2022 Experiencing ABS/DSC Failure and Steering Issues, Possibly Due to Faulty Steering Angle Sensor

Power steering without function

Hey folks, I've been having a spot of trouble with my 2022 Renault Arkana Hybrid that's clocked about 44,900 km. It's making me a bit uneasy because the ABS/DSC system has given up the ghost, the power steering's having a tea break, and the steering wheel shakes like it's got the jitters. I've had a dodgy experience with a mechanic before, so I'm thinking the Steering angle sensor could be playing up. Anyone seen this before and had any luck getting it fixed without much drama at their garage? Would appreciate any tips or advice you might have!

Hey, Sounds like similar grief I had with my 2019 Renault Koleos not too long ago. Definitely seems like you might be on the right track with the steering angle sensor issue. In my situation, it was indeed the Coding of the steering angle sensor being incorrect that was causing quite a ruckus. It was mucking up the ABS/DSC and causing the shuddering in the steering wheel, much like you've described. Interestingly, I learnt that the steering angle sensor is a vital part of the ABS/DSC system. When it goes haywire, the whole system gets thrown off. I took it to my local garage. They ran a diagnostic check and sure enough, the incorrect coding was flagged. They had to reprogram the sensor to match the car's parameters. It wasn't an overnight fix, but it wasn't a complete nightmare either. After the reprogramming, everything was sailing smooth again, no more judder or any other weird stuff. So yeah, check with a reputable mechanic if that's the mischievous part causing the issue in your Arkana Hybrid. Hope you get it sorted without too much hassle. Cheers!

Hey! I've got to say, you're bang on the money! I recently had a similar issue come up in my 2020 Arkana. I also had the ABS/DSC system give me a fair bit of stick, coupled with the steering wheel shaking like a leaf! Sounds like your hunch about the steering angle sensor is spot on, given how similar my experience was. I swung by my regular mechanic and he was able to sort it out with a simple recode - just like owner 2's experience! Hope your drama ends soon. By the way, do you mind if I ask how many dollars did you have to cough up for the fix? Also, has anything else come up since then? Best of luck!

Hey there! Sure sounds like we're part of the same faulty steering angle sensor club, doesn't it? I remember how ticked off I was when I first encountered the issue on my Koleos. It was such a pain in the neck. As for the moolah part, your wallet can breathe easy. It wasn't too steep a plunge. I spent 195€ to wipe out the troublemaker coding issue on the steering angle sensor. Definitely worth every cent when I felt the smooth control coming back! And since having it fixed by the good blokes at my trusted garage, my sweet ride's been nothing but a pleasure. They've managed to get rid on haunted shakes and ABS/DSC system has been behaving like a good boy. No more unplanned tea breaks for the power steering either. Crossing my fingers it stays that way! Hang in there and I hope your Arkana Hybrid's issues get sorted out swiftly and smoothly. Cheers!

Thank you so much, guys! You're both absolute life savers! Your experience has made me feel a bit more positive about this. It's a relief to know that I'm not the only one who's going through this steering sensor wobble. Honestly thought that my Arkana was possessed or something! So, the consensus here is to get the steering angle sensor recoded, right? I'll get that done at a trusty local garage that I know. The pricing doesn't sound too scandalous either. A bill of 195€ seems like a fair trade-off for getting rid of these ghostly shakes and regaining some peace of mind. I genuinely appreciate you sharing your experiences. You've been such a great help! Here's hoping my visit to the mechanic proves fruitful and my hybrid goes back to its smooth sailing. Will keep you guys posted. Have a great day! Cheers!
