Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Sounds like the injectors could actually be the problem. Can you remember how much the whole thing cost you? I just don't want to get completely ripped off again... Has anything else been wrong with your car since then, or did everything run fine after that was fixed? I'm assuming the volume drift compensation thing might be a bit too technical for me. But good to know what I might be dealing with. Thanks a lot!

Hey, you're welcome! Yes, the injectors were exactly the right thing for me. I paid €45 for it, which I thought was absolutely fine. Since then the car has been running like a champ again, no more complaints! And yes, about the volume drift compensation... I had it done by the mechanic and it really did make a decisive difference. So you can look forward to having it done for you too! I don't know too much about the technology behind it, but the effect speaks for itself. So, cheer up, everything will work out!

Great, thanks for the info! 450 sounds fair, I should be able to manage that. I hope it works as well for me as it did for you. Good to hear that there were no further problems after the repair. All this technical stuff is pretty much beyond me too, I'll just let the professionals do it. I'll go to the mechanic tomorrow and see what he says. Maybe I'll get lucky and it's just a minor issue. Thanks again for the help and reassurance. You've really helped me out. Take care!

Hi buddy, I had similar problems with my 2002 BMW 3 series. Sounded almost identical, engine warning light, jerky acceleration and shuddering at idle. For me it was an issue with the injectors. They were clogged and had to be cleaned. The high-pressure pump also needed an overhaul because it was no longer pumping the diesel mixture correctly. The gremlins like the shuddering at idle and the increased fuel consumption were probably related to this. It was pretty serious, not something to be taken lightly. On the subject of quantity drift compensation, I have no experience of this. In my opinion, however, it could help to optimize the injection. Just tell your mechanic what you have observed and what I have told you, he will know what to do. And don't worry, you're not the only one who has such problems. Good luck!
