Seeking Advice: Hyundai SantaFe's Lock and Lighting Issues, Possible Electronic Door Handle Trouble

Dim or flickering lights

|

Vehicle cannot be unlocked or locked

Hey fellow car enthusiasts! Had a rough experience with my mechanic last time, now my 2000 Hyundai SantaFe (gasoline, 57205 KM) is acting up again. The beast refuses to lock/unlock and the lights are going dim or flickering occasionally. My personal diagnosis is an issue with the electronics in the door handle. Has anyone else faced a similar problem? Any advice about a trustworthy mechanic or DIY ways to handle this would be immensely appreciated. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, Sounds like we share more than just love for cars. Ran into a similar pickle with my 1997 Hyundai Tucson a while back. My suspicions were right along with yours - it was indeed an issue with the cable connection from the outside door handle electronics to the control unit. Can't say it's not a serious issue but it's not the end of the world either. Had to get the entire cable connection replaced since fixing it was a no-brainer. Ended up spending a good day at the garage, so be prepared for your beast to be out of action for a bit if you're going the same route. As for DIY methods, well I ain't a whiz with electronics, but you could always try checking out some YouTube tutorials if you're up for it. And for mechanics, you just need someone who knows their way around circuitry. No specific recommendations though, sorry my. Hang in there, and remember, it ain't over 'til it's over! Cheers.

Hey there, First off, thanks for taking the time to share your past encounter, it's certainly reassuring in a way. Spot on about the love for our automobiles! So you went about changing the entire cable connection, huh? Do you happen to recall how much that ran you by any chance? Also, I hope nothing else has popped up with your Tucson since that repair. I'm game for the garage day if that's what will get my SantaFe back to its glory days. Let me know! Stay cool and keep rolling! Cheers!

Hey! Absolutely! Got to keep our beloved machines running smoothly, don't we? As for the cable connection replacement for the door handle electronics, it set me back by about 110€. Not a cost you shrug off, but totally worth it to get the old Tuscon back on its feet. Since that repair, she's been running like a dream, no more stubborn door or blinky lights. So based on my experience, endure that garage day for your SantaFe, it's gonna be worth it. Keep the rubber on the road! Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for reminiscing and sharing those valuable details! It indeed sounds like the beast is up for a garage day, and here I was considering a DIY. It's reassuring to hear your Tucson's been fine since the cable connection replacement. 110€ is a bit of a blow but to keep the SantaFe soaring, it's a price I can handle with some wincing. I'll seek a trustworthy mechanic for this then. Whoever said owning a car was stress-free certainly didn't own a Hyundai, but the bond we share with these metal monsters is unbreakable, eh? I'll get back if future troubles arise or to share the success story. Cheers to more smooth drives! Keep those engines purring. Cheers!
