Hey there! Your experience with your Kia Sportage is giving me some serious déjà vu, seems like we're in the same boat. How did it hit your pocket to get this Diesel Particulate Filter issue sorted out at the mechanic's? Also, just curious, did you come across any more problems with your ride since this DPF snafu was fixed? Cheers for sharing your experience, it's a real help!
Hey! It did sting a bit, I'm not gonna lie. Getting my Diesel Particulate Filter sorted set me back about 1550.00 €. But considering how clogged up it was and how much it was affecting the ride, I reckon it was money well spent. Besides, the high mileage on the car had taken its toll, so this DPF issue was somewhat expected. Now about the troubles post-fixing – since I took care of the loaded DPF, I haven't come across any major issues. Knock on wood! My ride's been running pretty smooth. It definitely feels like the mechanic did a solid job. But like with any car, it needs to be well-maintained, especially these diesel engines with high mileage. Hope this helps you out! Best of luck with getting your Stonic fixed up!
Wow 1550 € is quite steep but considering what's at stake, it does seem like a necessary investment. I'm reassured to hear you haven't had any major problems post the DPF cleaning. Sounds like you got a trusty mechanic there! I'm hopeful my situation pans out in a similar fashion, fingers crossed. Thanks a ton for the info, it really puts things into perspective for me. Got a bit of clarity on what to expect at my mechanic's. Will keep you updated on how it goes! Cheers!
Hey, your symptoms sound pretty familiar. My 2019 Kia Sportage diesel had about the same mileage a while back and I faced pretty much the same issue. The check engine light was on, and it was spitting out loads of black smoke, faint power and the exhaust was stinking to high heaven. I had the same thoughts about it being a DPF issue. Went to my mechanic and after a few tests, it turned out my Diesel Particulate Filter was overloaded indeed. The bugger was the manual DPF regeneration had failed multiple times and it was clogged up real bad. It was a pretty serious issue because high mileage and city driving had caused it. As much as I love that car and its durability, gotta admit that the DPF issue due to high mileage comes as a rather unpleasant surprise. But once I got it all fixed up, she was as good as new. Getting it sorted is definitely the way to go.
