Seeking Advice: 2018 Hyundai Veloster Exhibiting Unusual Bouncing Behaviour and Illuminated Warning Lights

Bouncing excessively over bumps

Hey fellow Hyundai Veloster owners, Can anyone advise on a peculiar problem? I own a 2018 Veloster (Gasoline engine, bouncing just shy of 91,185 KM on the dial). Lately, it's been bouncing like a rodeo bull over speed bumps, and my dash’s warning light is glowing up like a Christmas tree. I suspect it might be a damper adjustment problem? Last garage visit wasn’t the best, so before going the mechanic route again, thought I’d bounce it off here first. Has anyone experienced similar issues and care to share how they went about it, any trusty mechanics you guys swear by? Keep your engines roaring.

Hey there! I've got a 2015 Hyundai Veloster and had a similar experience. Just like yours, my ride started bouncing like crazy, and that pesky warning light on the dash caught my attention. It wasn't a damper adjustment problem in my case though, but actually a Cable connection issue. Last time I wheeled into a garage, they found that the Cable connection going to the ECU (Engine Control Unit) was defective and kept sending wrong data - hence the lively dashboard! It wasn't exactly a walk in the park as they had to dig deep into my Veloster's guts, but they eventually fixed the faulty Cable connection and that sorted out the problem. So, it might not be a damper issues you're experiencing but rather a cable connection problem, like I did. I'd recommend getting your car to a garage and mention this to them. They might be able to save some time diagnosing, given my similar experience. At the end of the day, every car and issue is unique so take my solution with a grain of salt! Hope my experience helps in your scenario. Stay revved up!

Hey! Appreciate you sharing your experience. That's an angle I hadn't even considered, but it does make sense given the circus that my dash has been! Nothing like an unexpected cable connection issue to keep things interesting, eh? I'll definitely bring this up when I take the Veloster into the garage next, might just save them a ton of diagnosis time. If you don't mind me asking, do you recollect how much the fix set you back by? And, fingers crossed, has anything else cropped up since then? Keep your tachometer ticking. Cheers!

Hey! No worries! Glad to share my two cents. About the repair cost, it set me back by around 155.00 € for sorting out the defective cable connection. Not exactly pocket change, but it worked - the carnival of lights on my dash finally stopped. And to answer your second question, I haven't encountered any subsequent issues — knock on wood. My Veloster's been running pretty smoothly since then. Oh, and regarding your initial thought, it turned out to be a damper adjustment issue in my case earlier, but I had that taken care of post seeing my mechanic. So, here's hoping your ride gets its groove back soon! Remember, the road ahead is as smooth as you make it. Keep revving!

Oi Glad to hear you've kept the issues at bay, and thanks for the heads up on the repair costs. It's nice to have a ballpark figure in mind, so I'm not caught off guard. Can't tell you how much I appreciate your input - hopefully taking these pointers to the garage will help them troubleshoot a bit easier. I'm hoping my Veloster will soon be back to its smooth-sailing self, no more bouncing or gleaming dash! I'll update you once we've cracked this nut. Till then, keep your wheels spinning! Cheers!
