Hey, thanks for chiming in. Sounds like our issues are pretty similar. Alright, a little more on my Soul - she's clocked up about 198652 KM so far. My last service was about 2 months ago, a simple oil change and brake check; nothing connected to the electrical side. The issue popped up out of the blue really, one day all fine, next day weak startups and the ominous flicker. Hope this helps with the picture. Any other thoughts? Cheers!
Hey again! Thanks for the additional info. Seems like your Soul and also my Soul were around the same mileage when these issues occurred. Given my history, it could very well be the emergency call system battery causing this drama. But here’s an additional thought - with this mileage, it might also be worth checking if the alternator is problematic. If your alternator's acting up, it can lead to inadequate charging of the battery, causing weak startups and issues with the lights, much like what you're experiencing. A faulty alternator could even drain a good battery. In my case, I initially overlooked the importance of checking the alternator, assuming it was only the emergency system battery at fault - turned out, both needed some attention. Got the alternator replaced and, voila, issues solved! So, next time you're at the workshop, it might be good to ask them to give the alternator a thorough look alongside the emergency system battery. The cost for alternator replacement can vary depending on your location but it was about 400 Euro for me. Anyways, best of luck with sorting out your Soul, I'm sure she'll be back in top shape soon! Cheers!
Hey, thanks for the insight! Never even thought about the alternator being a potential culprit. I’ll make sure I get both the emergency battery and the alternator checked at the workshop. Just hope it won’t cost an arm and a leg! Thanks again for your help, I will share an update once my Soul is back on the road, running smoothly. Cheers!
Hey there, I also had a similar problem with my 2021 Kia Soul, gasoline engine too. I’d say I have low car expertise but I do my best. In my case, it turned out the emergency battery was completely discharged. Once I got it to my local workshop, they sorted it out within a day. Cost me 110 Euro, not too bad. Just to be sure though, could you provide a few more details about your Soul, like mileage, or if there's any recent changes done to your car? It'll help paint a better picture. Cheers!
