Hey there, That's quite the pickle you've both been in. I've also had some run-ins with VW's central locking function in the past on my 2017 eUP, just curious, when you got that cable issue fixed, do you remember roughly how much it set you back? Also, have you noticed anything else acting up since the repair? To the original post, it's definitely worth getting it checked out from an expert you trust, pronto! Best of luck!
Hey! Absolutely, happy to shed light on that part. It stood me about 155.00 € to get the whole cable connection defect sorted, that including the labor costs at the garage. Bit of a dent in the wallet, but worthwhile for the peace of mind, I reckon. Since the fix, I've had zero issues with the central locking function or anything even remotely related. Trigger's right on cubic money there. Run it by a trusted mechanic pretty soonish, it's a bit of a bother but not worthy enough to lose your night's sleep over it. Best of luck with it!
Hi guys, I really appreciate all of your advice and shared experiences, it's encouraging to see that I'm not alone, your experience relates to my issue pretty closely, and, you've hit the plan right on the nose. I'm definitely going to take it in to a trusted mechanic for a thorough look-see. It does seem like my hunch about the central locking was right. Now that I have an idea about the cost, I'm prepared for that too. Here's to hoping it gets sorted out without much fuss! Really, thanks heaps guys, for the advice and support.
Hey! Sounds a bit like the issue I had with my 2016 VW Golf not too long ago. The main culprit was indeed the central locking, specifically the cable connection. It was the same symptoms with the locking/unlocking problems and occasional key fob issues. Last time at the garage, after doing a detailed check, they found a cable connection was defective. The mechanics had to disassemble some parts of the door to repair the issue. Apart from the cable, no other parts needed replacement. It wasn't a minor issue, since it impacted the car's key functions but also wasn't majorly serious - didn't affect the driving or overall functionality of the vehicle itself. Your hunch may just be right. I'd suggest taking it to a reputable mechanic for a detailed check-up just to confirm. Cheers!
