Hi there! Thanks for the prompt response. I appreciate your suggestion about the exhaust leakage. It's something I overlooked while trying to figure out the issue. To answer your question, I haven't done any diagnostic testing on my Tacoma yet, but now I'm considering it after your advice. Honestly, I've neglected getting the check engine light inspected for a bit due to the high mileage on my car (157814 KM to be exact). My last service was about some months ago. Funny how it's often the things we overlook that end up causing such a fuss. I'll keep you posted with anything that comes up. Thanks again!
Hey, glad my previous response could shed some light on the situation you're dealing with. And yeah, sometimes we overlook things; happens to the best of us. Sounds about right to go for a diagnostic test now, given all these symptoms. A word of advice: if possible, get an OBDII Scanner (they're not that expensive these days) or borrow one. It reads those error codes and can offer a lot on what might be wrong. It's quite handy and has saved me a fair bit of cash in the past. 157814 KM isn't something to overly worry about. These Toyotas are built to last. My old Tundra is well past that and still going strong. As long as regular servicing is maintained and anomalies tackled as they come up, you should have plenty of KM left on your Tacoma. Remember the OBD codes can provide good insight, but they're not the be-all-and-end-all. Always get a qualified pair of eyes (mechanic) to confirm before going through with any major repairs or parts replacement. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious! Update us when you can. Drive safe!
Thanks for the helpful tips! Purchasing or borrowing an OBDII scanner sounds like a great idea, I'll look into it. I agree about Toyotas being built to last, it's been a dependable ride up until now. This gives me faith that whatever the issue is, I'll get it sorted and my Tacoma will be back in top shape. Heeding your advice, I'll get a diagnostic done and remember not to get too hung up on the OBD codes alone. I'll definitely get a professional's opinion before I decide on any major repairs or replacements. I'll update you on my progress soon. Thanks again for your invaluable advice. Drive safe too!
Hey there, I reckon I might have an idea about your problem. I own a 2010 Toyota Tundra which had the very same issue not long ago. I'm no pro mechanic, but I've had some experience dealing with car issues over decades of driving. The symptoms were almost identical; black smoke, reduced fuel efficiency, and jerkiness during acceleration. I drove my Tundra to a local repair shop. After they did a thorough check, it turns out the exhaust was leaking! They had it fixed and it cost me around 265€. I wonder, have you had any recent diagnostic testing on your Tacoma? Have there been any error codes popping up? That might provide more intel, making it easier to pinpoint the problem. Remember, sharing info like this can really help like us lend a hand. Hope this helps!
