Car won't start

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I've been having some weird issues with my 2021 Renault Arkana equipped with a Hybrid engine. It refuses to start at times, it's drinking fuel like never before, the warning light on the speedometer is constantly on and my car lights are dimming or flickering. I suspect there's a fault in the start-stop engine system, but I'd love to hear your experiences and get some advice on how to troubleshoot this. Any tips on how you guys fixed similar issues in your workshop would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I reckon I've got some experience with this, had a similar issue with my 2019 Renault Kadjar not so long ago. My car knowledge falls in the 'some experience' category, definitely not a pro but can putter around. Turned out, my problem was a weak or defective battery, which sounds pretty similar to your situation. So what I did basically was to hightail it to my local workshop. The pros there diagnosed the problem and my hunch was right. Ended up paying around 290 euro to have a new battery put in. But hey, every car's a unique story, right? Maybe, could you share more details about your car? Like, when's the last time you changed or tested your battery? Have you noticed anything unusual, any strange noises or leaks? This might help us pinpoint and troubleshoot your issue better. Cheers!

Hey! Appreciate the speedy response and for sharing your experience with the Kadjar. Interesting that you mention the battery, it's been a good while since I last checked mine or made any changes. The last service was at 184,876km but they didn't mention anything about battery issues. Now that you've mentioned it, I recall some strange noises though, mostly clicking sounds when trying to start the engine. No unusual leaks or anything though. Guess I've been missing clear signs pointing towards a battery problem, huh? I'll definitely follow your lead, get my Arkana to the workshop, and have 'em check the battery out. Thanks for the helpful advice!

Hey! No problem at all, happy to help. That clicking sound you're hearing when trying to start the engine does sound like the battery might be the culprit. Remember, batteries generally need to be replaced every 3-5 years, but that can depend on your driving habits and weather conditions. I'd say you're on the right track taking it to the workshop. Don't hesitate to ask them to run a full diagnostic too, just to be sure there's no other underlying issue. After all, prevention is better than cure. And once you've got it figured out, do us a favor and let the rest of us know what happens. It's all part of the learning process, right? All the best with the car, hope you get to the bottom of this fast. Cheers!

Absolutely! I couldn't agree more about the learning part. You're totally on point, it's been almost 3 years since I’ve checked the battery. I'll definitely get them to run a full diagnostic. It's better to uncover the issue before it turns into a major problem. Can't thank you enough for your advice and help, it's been a real highlight in this wild car owning journey of mine. Will keep you all updated on the battery situation and if anything else pops up. Thanks again, and cheers right back at you!
