Hey! I appreciate the suggestion! It sounds quite plausible actually. The last time my car was serviced was six months back. When it comes to mileage, it's at 89417 KM. No recent part replacements have happened, this issue kinda crept up all of a sudden. I guess I might take it to the garage soon and get the fuel pressure regulator checked, as it probably could be the culprit here. Thanks again for your valuable input!
Hey, glad my experience could give you some clarity. With your mileage and that last service date, it's entirely possible that the fuel pressure regulator could be due for a swap. Also, since you haven't replaced any parts recently, given the symptoms, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a failing coil pack or dirty fuel injector. They can mess with the mixture control as well. It's relatively cheap to clean or replace if that turns out to be the issue. Lastly, don't overlook your spark plugs, they could be fouled due to a rich mix. All these things contribute to bad fuel economy, poor acceleration, smoked exhaust, you get the idea. So it might be worth having those checked at the garage too while they're looking at the regulator. Keep us posted on what the mechanic finds, and good luck!
Cheers for the additional pointers! I hadn't considered the coil pack and fuel injector, and the spark plugs are also a fair shout. I can see how all these components could add up to the mess I'm in. I'm now armed with quite a good list of things for the mechanic to check. I'm feeling a heck of a lot more confident about getting this sorted, thanks to you. I'll update you all once I've had it seen to and, fingers crossed, solved these issues. Thanks again!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2013 Peugeot 3008, diesel though. I'm no car guru but have some experience tinkering around under the hood. I initially thought it was a fuel filter issue and replaced it, but the problems persisted. Took it to my local garage and they found the Fuel pressure regulator to be defective. Turns out, it was messing with the mixture control, causing the engine to run too rich. That's why you might be seeing black smoke and experiencing sluggish acceleration. I ended up shelling out 250€ to get it swapped out and it's been smooth sailing since. Worth every penny, trust me. To tailor this advice to your situation, could you provide a bit more info on your 301? Things like mileage, when you last had it serviced, any recent part replacements would help zero in on how best to address your issue. Hope this helps!
