Hey, thanks for chiming in! Great that you could empathize with my situation. To get into details, my i10 has been on the road for a good 71058 kms. I've always been pretty regular with all services as per the manual. Also, the latest check-up was done quite recently and everything seemed fine then. I was afraid of a potential hit to my pocket but your words just confirm it! I'll definitely get my mechanic to look into the EGR valve issue. Guess cars are like kids - unpredictable but you gotta love 'em anyway! Let's see how it turns out. Cheers!
Howdy again! You're on the dot about cars being like kids. Haha! Appreciate the extra details about your i10. Given the mileage and well-maintained status, I reckon it could very well be the EGR valve, as I experienced with my i20. Before you go all in though, it might be worth testing out a couple of cheaper solutions first. There's an additive you can get from auto shops designed especially for cleaning the EGR valve. This could loosen up any deposits causing the valve to stick. Or, if your hands are made for grease, just pop the hood and manually clean the valve yourself. YouTube's always a great resource if you need a guide! These options could potentially save you a buck or two. If all else fails and the symptoms continue, then it might be about that time to replace the valve. It can be a bit of a sting, but knowing your ride is healthy and safe on the roads will be worth every penny! Best of luck! Let's keep rolling! Cheers!
Hey again! Love how car guys always stick together. The community's like a family, innit? Cheers for the detailed advice, cause it's bang on with my plan - I do fancy myself as a bit of a hands-on bloke, so I'll roll up my sleeves and give that EGR valve a good cleaning first. The internet's a wonderful teacher for sure, and lol, should save me a few quid as well if it works! If it still acts up, then I s'pose it'll be time to dish out the dosh. It's a pain in the rear, but hey, as long as it gets my little beast back to roaring health, it's all good! Glad I could chat and exchange ideas. Cheers to more convos and venting out car troubles together. Catch ya later!
Hey there! I reckon your hunch might be spot on. I had a strikingly similar issue with my 2009 Hyundai i20, which is pretty close to your i10. I'd qualify my car expertise as "some experience", so I understand where you're coming from. In my case, my local workshop diagnosed the situation and reported a defective EGR valve. It was stuck and causing havoc to the whole system. I ended up having to pay 355€ for a new EGR valve and the labour to replace it. So, if you've got a similar issue, prepare your wallet. That being said, can you share a bit more about your Hyundai, like its mileage and maintenance history? It would help me to provide you with some more tailored advice. Keep your chin up, and remember, troubleshooting is part of the car ownership journey. Cheers!
