Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Multiple Issues in 2016 Dacia Logan: Suspected Faulty Air Mass Sensor

Stalling while idling

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Shaking while idling

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Poor fuel economy

Loss of engine power

Engine shuts off by itself

Unsteady engine

Hey! I've been having a rough time with my 2016 Dacia Logan with a Gasoline engine. Noticing a bunch of issues like black smoke billowing on acceleration, a glaring check engine light, auto engine shutdown and drop in power, jumpy acceleration, lousy fuel mileage, unusual stalls while at idle, and it keeps shaking when idling too. I suspect a faulty air mass sensor but not fully sure. Any pearls of wisdom you can share on this? Particularly, I'd appreciate hearing about your personal experiences at the mechanic’s. How did it turn out for your ride? All input would be awesome!

Hey there, we seem to be in the same boat! I had similar issues with my 2014 Dacia Duster related to the engine. I'm not a car expert by any means, I'd say my level of experience is pretty low. I remember constantly breaking into a sweat every time my check engine light came on and the car seemed a bit shaky. Visited my trusted local workshop and right off the bat, they found the culprit - Damage to the cable harness. It cost me around 95€ at the time to fix it up. I was relieved that this nagging issue got sorted out pretty smoothly. As for your Logan, it would be ideal if you could share more specifics about your car - mileage, maintenance history and such. Sometimes, little details can help pinpoint exactly what might be going wrong. Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I appreciate the advice. My Logan has about 56957 KM on the odometer, and the latest service was done at 45000 KM. There were no major repairs in the past and it's been smoothly gliding down the road until these problems started. I'll definitely consider the damaged cable harness issue. It's time to take a quick trip to my local mechanic, I guess. Cheers!

Hey again! Your mileage and recent service suggest it shouldn't be a major, age-related issue. The symptoms you're describing still remind me a lot of my Duster situation, despite our rides being a bit different. My mechanic told me that the issues I was having could have been caused by many things, including the air mass sensor like you mentioned, but it turned out to be the cable harness. It might not hurt to have your mechanic glance over both, just to cover all your bases. Now, don't sweat it too much. We car owners have been there, and yeah it can be a hassle, but it's also part of the game, right? Just remember: be patient, keep informed, and you'll sort it all out. Let us know what the verdict is when you get it checked out. Best of luck!

Spot-on advice! Really appreciate your insight. The car's going to the mechanic's first thing tomorrow. Can't wait for all these issues to be a thing of the past. I'll definitely let you know how it turns out. Fingers crossed it's just the cable harness. I really need her running smooth again. Thanks again for sharing your experience. Cheers!
