Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Issues in 2015 Nissan Fuga

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Fault stored

DPF regeneration failure

Hey, I'm battling with an issue on my 2015 Nissan Fuga with a Gasoline engine. Lately, I've been noticing a few problems like the engine light constantly on, decreased engine power, errors being stored and regenerating the DPF being unsuccessful. I have a hunch that a dodgy exhaust back pressure sensor could be behind all this madness. Anyone else experienced this? Any tips or tricks for troubleshooting? Would also love to hear how you managed to fix this issue with your workshop. Thanks in advance for your insights.

Hey there! I've got a 2013 Nissan Skyline, pretty similar to your Fuga, and I ran across the same problems a while back. Now, I'm no mechanic, but I've got some experience fiddling around with cars. In my case, I went straight to my local workshop, as DPF problems can be quite stubborn. They confirmed a severely overloaded DPF. My pocket got around 1325 Euro lighter but it did sort the problem. Is your car diesel or gasoline? Also, can you tell me the last time you had your DPF cleaned or replaced? That might help me give you a bit more specific advice. It's usually a good idea to bring your car to a professional for these kind of issues, but I understand wanting to troubleshoot first.

Hi there! Appreciate the swift response. To clarify, my Fuga is equipped with a gasoline engine. Regarding the DPF, I honestly can't recall when was the last cleanse or replacement. My Fuga's mileage currently reads 83773 KM and I did a general tune-up during the last service. Hope that helps in your quest to provide me with a piece of your mind. Thanks again!

Hey there! Your info helps. I should've mentioned that your Fuga has a petrol (gasoline) engine, and these typically don't come with a DPF - those are usually for diesel engines. My apologies for the confusion. Because of this, your issue might not be DPF-related after all. Your symptoms do suggest the exhaust back pressure sensor could be faulty as you initially suspected. However, these problems could be from a handful of other things (fuel injectors, EGR valve, etc.). A proper diagnostics check should pinpoint the issue. I'd advise getting your car scanned by a professional to avoid guesswork and unnecessary expenses. Most mechanics use a diagnostic tool which reads error codes from your car computer - this should tell you where the issue comes from. My issue turned out to be rectified by replacing the DPF. Since your car doesn't require DPF, you might look at a different troubleshooting avenue. Hope this helps, keep us posted on what you find out!

Hey! Thanks a ton for clarifying that misunderstanding and explaining it out. I'll definitely heed your advice and get a professional to perform a diagnostic check on my Fuga to pin down the culprit. Initially, I was pretty adamant about getting my hands dirty and sorting this mess with my own toolkit, but it sounds like it's best to take it to a workshop this time. Thanks again for your invaluable advice and I'll let you know how things turn out!
