Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Engine Weakness and Flickering Lights in 2017 Lexus LC Hybrid

Dim or flickering lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hey everyone, I'm struggling with my 2017 Lexus LC Hybrid - the darn thing's started showing some funky signs recently. The engine's been weak on start-up and I've also noticed my lights flickering more than a haunted house. I'm guessing it might be a case of severe battery self-discharge, but I'm no expert. Just wondering if anyone's faced something similar and how theyaged to get it fixed up in their workshop? Any tips for troubleshooting this would be ace. Cheers!

Hey there! I've got a 2015 Lexus ES and faced a pretty similar issue a while back. I'd rank myself as someone with low experience in car troubleshooting, but I had a bit of a run-in with this. It turned out to be a dodgy control unit in my case. A trip to the local workshop was in order and it set me back around 600 Euro, but it did the trick. The symptoms you're describing do sound similar though. I’d recommend getting it looked at by a professional just to be sure. By the way, can you share more about your vehicle - like the mileage and recent repairs, if any? It could help hone in on the problem. Good luck!

Hi! Appreciate the quick reply. My LC's clocked up 138409 KM so far. No recent repairs, just the usual periodic service which I got it done at the dealership. Last one was about three months ago. I'll follow your suggestion and get my car checked at a local workshop. Hopefully, it's just the control unit acting up. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Hey, no problem at all! Given the mileage and lack of recent repairs, it does lend more weight to the control unit issue. Or there's a slim chance it might be a battery issue like you initially suspected, but it's less likely since your car is a hybrid. Just remember not to panic even if it's a bit of an unexpected repair - these things happen. Make sure you explain the issues properly to the mechanic, especially about the dim/flicker in your lights. That was a crucial bit for me in getting it diagnosed right. Good luck with it and fingers crossed it's nothing too complicated!

Hey, cheers for the advice! I'm planning to head to the workshop this weekend. You're right, no point in panicking. With the details you've mentioned, I feel a bit more prepared for the conversation with my mechanic. Hopefully, it's an easy fix. Thanks again for your help!
