Hey! I appreciate your time and insight. I kind of expected the flawed injector-- your experience pretty much confirms it. My Mazda MPV has a mileage of 33410 KM, so it's had its fair share of road, but it's been in tip-top shape until this issue cropped up. I'll ensure to have both VIN and engine specs ready when I take it to the garage. 515€ sounds reasonable for this kind of job. I'll cross my fingers and hope the diagnosis and repair won't burn a hole in my pocket. Again, thanks for sharing your experience and advice. It's good to have some confirmation about what I suspected. I'll share an update once all is said and done. Cheers!
No worries, happy to help! Sounds like you're on the right track now. Yeah, 33410 KM isn't too bad but even the best cars start showing a little wear and tear. When it comes to the injector, mileage or age doesn't matter as much, it could go bad anytime. Your approach towards having the VIN and engine specs is spot on - mechanics love it when you bring all the info they might need. Should speed up the diagnosis process. About the cost, you're right. 515€ is reasonable looking at the complexity and labor around changing out an injector and cleaning out the system. When I had mine done, it did make a significant difference to how the car drove. Anyway, I will be waiting to hear how it goes for you. Good luck, and again, let us know if you need more input. Fingers crossed that your MPV will be back to purring like a kitten soon!
Spot on! Good to know that the mileage doesn't matter much when it comes to the injector. I do take good care of my MPV, but like you said, even the best cars can start showing issues. Your suggestion about taking all the info with me seems to have hit the bull's eye. I'd love to speed things up at the garage. In terms of cost, I'm hoping it falls within a similar range. I'll definitely be happy if it brings back the smooth drive I'm missing now. Thanks again for your thoughts and suggestions. It feels reassuring to have someone to share these experiences with. I'll surely keep you posted about how it all turns out. Cheers!
Hey there! I had a similar experience with my 2007 Mazda CX-9 so I might be able to help you out. I'd classify myself as having some experience with cars, I'm not a pro but I've changed my oil a few times, if you know what I mean. Just like you, mine was giving me grief with black smoke puffing out of the back, and it was ticking over pretty irregularly too. Bit of a hint, it just didn't sound right. So, I took it to my local garage. They diagnosed the problem as a Defective injector, same as what you're suspecting. To fix it, they replaced the problematic injector and gave the whole engine system a decent cleanup. The bill came up to 515€ which seemed fair for the job they did. Other than that, definitely get your vehicle's VIN and engine specs handy when you take it in, might help the mechanics diagnose things quicker. Hope this helps, and good luck getting your MPV back to its smooth cruising self! Let us know how it turns out and if you need more advice.
