Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Constant Low Tire Pressure Warning in a 2014 VW Golf Plus

Tire pressure to low

Hey fellow car lovers, I'm having a rough time with my 2014 VW Golf Plus running on gas. Lately, it's been constantly showing the warning for low tire pressure. I'm guessing it's something to do with a faulty tire pressure sensor but I'd really like to hear from those of you who've dealt with similar problems. How did your local garage or workshop handle the issue and what was your experience like? Any tips or advice on troubleshooting this problem would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there! I had a similar hitch with my 2012 VW Jetta running on diesel, so we've got something in common. I'd say I have some experience with cars, not a pro or anything, just picked up things here and there. Turns out my issue was a drained sensor battery. So, after some back and forth with my trusty workshop, we decided to get it replaced. That cost me about 280 Euro, give or take. Though, it may not be the exact problem with your Golf Plus, but it's a start. Could you let me know if your tire pressure readings are constantly low or do they fluctuate? It'd help me give some more targeted advice. Good luck with it!

Hey, thanks for your input! It's those little bits and pieces that really help. The tire pressure readings seem to be constantly low and it doesn't seem to fluctuate much. I was thinking along the same lines as you, about the battery possibly being the culprit. Looks like a trip to the garage and a chat with my mechanic is in the cards. Did your garage take long to sort out your issue? I've put around 58471 km on my Golf Plus since the last service.

Hey, nice to see the information was helpful! Constant low pressure readings do suggest that it's probably not a leak, but more something technical with the system, like the sensor's battery, as we thought. For my Jetta, it didn't take particularly long. I left my car in the morning, and had it back by closing time. So assuming it is a drained battery, it should be quite straightforward for your mechanic and you shouldn't be without your Golf Plus for too long. Also, for the mileage you've put on since the last service, it might line up just right for a sensor battery replacement. Keep us posted on how it all goes. Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for getting back to me. You've been a great help! The fact that it shouldn't take very long does put my mind at ease. I guess I'll be scheduling an appointment with my garage soon then, and fingers crossed it's that straightforward. You're right about the service being due too, I definitely don't want to risk running an over mileage car. I'll let you guys know how it pans out. Cheers!

On my VW Golf 5 Plus (5M1, 521) HSN/TSN 0603/780, the nozzle for the rear window wiper fluid no longer works properly. Instead of a spray jet, the water only "pees" tiredly over the tailgate. Is a washer fluid nozzle (OE no. VW 3B9 955 985A) actually installed here? I bought one, but it doesn't fit into the opening, which is too small. I can't get hold of any residue with needle-nose pliers. How do I get the old residue out, or am I completely wrong and the water jet is distributed via the wiper cap? Why is the pressure then no longer sufficient?

It sounds like there might be a blockage in the washer fluid line or the pump might be failing, causing insufficient pressure. You can try to clean the line with compressed air or a thin wire to remove any potential blockage. If this doesn't work, you might need to check the pump. As for the nozzle, it should fit if it's the correct part for your model. If you're unsure, it's best to consult with a mechanic to avoid causing any damage. Please let us know how it goes and if you have any other questions.
