Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Check Engine Light and Overheating in 2023 Renault Arkana Hybrid

Check engine light on

Hey folks, I've got a bit of a car situation on my hands and could use some sage advice. I own a 2023 Renault Arkana, hybrid engine model, clocking in at about 146,702 km of ride. Lately, it's been giving me a bit of grief - the check engine light's beaming like a beacon in the night, my ride's been getting too hot to handle, and there's a constant dip in the coolant level. Plus, got this troubling warning light making an appearance on my speedometer. I've been wrecking my brains and I think it might be an issue with a message error between control devices. I was wondering if anyone out there has had the same run-ins with their cars? Would really appreciate your insights on how to sort this out, particularly your mechanic experience. My last interaction with a mechanic left a sour taste, so hoping to make a more informed decision this time. Thanks in advance for your help, guys.

Hey, I'll try to keep this short and sweet. I'm the proud owner of a 2020 Renault Captur, a bit older than yours, but we ride the same boat when it comes to these issues. Your symptoms sound all too familiar to me. I was dealing with a similar situation a while back: my engine light was on, coolant levels were nose-diving, and my ride was cooking up a storm, just like yours. After a few days of pondering and head-scratching, I took it to my local garage. Turns out, the issue was with the water pump's cable connection/plug. Yeah, that's fancy talk for saying that it was defective. Now, don't freak out. It sounds like a big deal, but it wasn't a catastrophic issue or something. They had to do some work to fix it, but it was pretty standard. Involved checking the cables for any signs of damage, cleaning the connection area, and replacing the plug with a new one. Keep in mind, same car issue doesn't always mean same solution, so don't take my words as carved in stone. But, carrying this theory to your mechanic might save you some grief. Just trying to help you avoid any confusion during your visit. Good luck with it, hope this helps!

Hey there, Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, it certainly eases my mind. It's good to hear it's not an end of the world thing and I like the sound of a manageable repair. This issue with the water pump's connection… curious stuff! I'll definitely mention it to my mechanic. However, I'm curious about the damage to the pockets this whole fiasco caused. Can you recall how much you ended up shelling out for the replacement and all the extra bits around it? Also, a bit of an afterthought - have you run into any more problems since the repair or has it been smooth sailing all the way? Cheers!

Hey, Oh, no biggie! Glad I could lend a hand and give you some peace of mind. Now, regarding the dough side of things, I remember it wasn’t as hard-hitting as I'd initially feared. The repair took out 155€ from my pocket, all going to fix that pesky cable connection and plug of the water pump - defo a sweet deal if you ask me! And good news, since I saw the mechanic, everything's been hunky-dory, no more troubles at all. That "message error between control devices" warning light that was giving me headaches? Gone, nothing but smooth sailing since then. Happy driving, fingers crossed it'll work out just as well for you! Cheers!

Hey, That's the sort of positive news I hoped to hear! A friendly pocket hit of 155€ for a fix and smooth ride ever since - that does seem like a sweet deal. A sigh of relief knowing the possibility it may also silence that warning light. Definitely heading over to the mechanic with your insights in my back pocket. Looking forward to some smooth sailing, just like you. Thanks a ton for the sound advice and your time. Appreciate it! Cheers!
