Jerking on acceleration

Hey folks, I'm grappling with some odd issues with my 2019 Renault Arkana with a Gasoline engine. It's chugging out black smoke on acceleration, the check engine light's on, and the engine shuts off randomly. Also, I’m noticing power loss an unstable engine, sudden jerks on acceleration, stalling when idle, poor mileage plus there is a strong exhaust smell. I'm suspecting it could be a fault with the low-pressure fuel system, but wanted to get a second opinion. Has anyone else out there faced these issues, or does anyone have any insight on how to diagnose the problem? I'd love to hear about your own repair experiences and methods at your workshop. Any suggestions would be appreciated to solve this muddle! Cheers.

Hey, I had a somewhat similar experience with my 2017 Renault Kadjar, although I'm by no means a car expert, just a bloke who's had his share of car issues! The symptoms you're describing smack of what I went through - the black smoke, jerky acceleration, and engine cutting out on me out of the blue. Turned out my issue was due to incorrect software values for the fuel pump, which cost me a handful of 45 euro at the workshop to sort out. The minute they fixed that, performances drastically improved. Can you share more details about your Arkana, specifically the exact model and current mileage? I'd be glad to share more about what I experienced. Keep your chin up, we'd get this sorted out real soon! Cheers!

Hey, Appreciate you sharing your experience! My Arkana is rolling at 88436 km now. Interesting that you mentioned software issues, I haven't considered about that. Could even be faulty sensors. Guess I'll run a computer diagnostic in my workshop. Let's see if they spit out any error codes. Thanks for the support! Will keep you posted. Cheers!

Hi there, No problem, happy to help out! That's quite a few kilometers you've got there. More miles invariably mean more chances for something to go awry, I reckon. Running a computer diagnostic sounds like an excellent idea to me. It should shed some light on whether it's a software problem, a sensor issue, or something entirely different. In my case, the diagnostic tool identified the issue and the mechanics could immediately rectify the software values for the fuel pump. You never know, could be the same for you. I do remember one other thing that could cause similar symptoms - a clogged air filter. So, you might want to take a look at that too. Anyway, fingers crossed - hoping your car gets back to full throttle soon! Cheers!

Yo, Cheers for the quick response! I didn't even consider the air filter. I'll add that to the check-up list then. Here's hoping it's no biggie and just needs a quick software fix or a good ol' filter clean-up. Will let you know what the diagnostic test spits out! Thanks a million for the help! Cheerio!
