Hey there, thanks for the quick response! Appreciate your insights from your own experience, that's super helpful. Regarding the specifics you asked - my Seltos currently sits at 57474 KM and the issue seems to pop up out of nowhere, no specific pattern as such. The last full service was done pretty recently. Hope these details help! Do you reckon it's worth checking the injection nozzle/injector as you suggested with your Sportage? Thanks again!
Hey, no worries at all, always happy to help a fellow Kia owner in need! Given how things shaped up with my Sportage and your mention of a strong exhaust smell, I'd say it's definitely worth checking out the injector nozzle as a possible root cause. Of course, misfires could indeed be part of the problem as you initially guessed. If that's the case, it could be throwing off your fuel to air ratio and hence, the strong exhaust smell. The jerking and drop in power could be due to this unbalanced ratio too which is controlled by the injector. So yeah, it all ties in a bit. Just keep in mind, with modern cars like our Kias, there could be a multitude of things at play here. So, my advice is to get it checked professionally. They'll probably hook your ride up to a computer, which can precisely identify the issue. And since you mentioned your last full service was not too long ago, I'd recommend you to revisit the service center and let them know about these recurring issues. They may recheck everything for free or for a reduced cost as it might be something they missed during the service. And remember, the longer you leave these types of issues, the more likely they are to cause further damage. Good luck and let us know how you get on!
Hey, cheers for getting back with that info! Helps a ton. You've got good points about the injector nozzle and the misfires, it does add up in my case as well. Reckon getting a professional to run the checks would be the safest bet, wouldn't want to miss out on identifying the actual issue. And a trip back to the service center does sound like a sensible move. I'll be sure to follow your advice and get this checked out ASAP, no point in waiting around for things to get worse. Can't thank you enough for your help and guidance, it's been a great help! Will definitely keep you updated on what happens next. Cheers!
What's up! I had a slightly similar issue with my 2017 Kia Sportage. For the records, I'm not a car mechanic, but I have some experience with cars because of my own issues and stuff. With mine, I also noticed that pesky check engine light plus uneven running and jerking on acceleration. Tried to ignore it initially, but when the exhaust started smelling bad.. uff! It was time to check it out. After getting a professional look, turned out the problem was with the Injection nozzle/injector, little suckers were faulty. Kinda set me back 515 Euro, but at least the old girl is running smoothly again. Could be the same with your Seltos. But hey, to get more in-depth advice, I need to know a bit more about your car. Things like mileage, how frequently this happens, when's the last time you had a full service? More deets would help me help you better. Cheers!
