Alarm system malfunctions

Hey there, Thanks for jumpin' in and sharing your experience. I've got to say, it does sound quite similar to what I'm dealing with. My Getz is mostly fine otherwise, no other apparent issues – it's been given a right royal servicing just a few thousand km ago, at the 119963 KM mark to be exact. The only odd thing I've noticed, besides the alarm, is that my dome light occasionally flickers when I'm driving, more so on bumpy terrains. I'm not sure if those two are connected, but that's about it. I'm swaying towards a faulty battery like you mentioned, and I reckon I might just ping my own mechanic for inspection. Cheers!
Hey again, That dome light flickering you mentioned could be more telling than you think! In my experience, flickering lights, especially coupled with an odd acting alarm, sometimes point towards an electrical issue. It could all be part of the same puzzle. Then again, wouldn't hurt to check in with your mechanic as you said. Electrical issues can be such a pain to diagnose on your own. I'd have a word about the dome light while you're at it. It could save you an extra trip down to the garage later on. Hope you sort out your Getz soon! Let us know how it goes, always good to add more to our collective knowledge bank! Cheers!
Hey! Thanks for that, you've given me plenty to consider. The dome light flickering never really struck me as a bigger issue but, you're right, it could be linking back to the anti-theft setup. I’ll definitely bring up the electrical angle with my mechanic, see if that leads us somewhere. Appreciate your insight and advice, we're learning as we go, aren’t we? I'll drop a line once I've got this pesky issue sorted out. This old Getz ain't ready to retire just yet! Cheers!!!
Hey! I had a similar issue with my '02 Hyundai Accent. The alarm system was acting up just like yours and my car knowledge level is some experience, enough to diagnose some straightforward issues. It turned out my battery had discharged due to aging. Took it to my local garage - good ol' Bob down at Fix-It Auto - and Bob replaced it straight away. The whole shebang cost me about 330 Euro, so it wasn't a killer, but still a bit of a nuisance. However, every car is unique. Could you share more about your specific situation? Any other symptoms? It would help shed more light on the issue so we can get your Getz back on the road asap. Cheers!
