Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting ABS Warning Light and Potential Wheel Speed Sensor Failure on 2010 Dacia Sandero

ABS/DSC system is not working

ABS warning light

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Fault stored

Hey guys, I've got a 2010 Dacia Sandero with a Gasoline engine here that's been acting up and I'm hoping for some pointers. The ABS warning light is on, ABS/DSC system is taking a vacation, I've got a warning light popping up on the speedometer and there seems to be a fault stored somewhere. My gut tells me it might be a failure with the Wheel speed sensor (ABS sensor). Anyone ever faced this issue and can share how they tackled it in their workshop? I'd appreciate any tips or shared experiences. Cheers!

Hey. I had the same issue with my 2008 Dacia Logan a while back. I'm no mechanic by any means, but I have some experience working with cars. I hooked up a diagnostic scanner in my garage and sure enough, the ABS Control Unit was defective. After some consideration, I decided to take it to my local mechanic. They replaced the unit which cost me around 1000€ in total. However, I suggest you run a diagnostic check to confirm that it's the same issue in your case. Let me know some more info about your car? Like mileage, your last mechanic visit, or if you've replaced anything recently. This might help me guide you in more detail according to your situation. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the quick response! My Sandero has been behaving pretty well until now, clocking in at 35189 KM, so this ABS thing caught me off guard. The last service was done not too long ago and didn't include any major part replacement. I'll definitely take your advice and run a diagnostic check to figure out what's going on. I'll put up an update after that. Cheers for the help!

No worries! With the relatively low mileage on your Sandero, wheel speed sensor failure does sound plausible. But then again, it's also possible that it's an issue with the ABS Control Unit or perhaps even a wiring glitch. A diagnostic check is definitely the way to go, it'll help you narrow down the problem and understand what's going wrong. And yeah, please do keep us updated. And hey, just remember, cars can act funky sometimes for no apparent reason. So try not to sweat it too much. We're here to help each other out, right? Shoot me a message if there's anything else you want to chat about. Good luck with it!

Hey there! You've been great with all of your insight. Diagnostic check it is then! I'm hoping it's something minor as you suggested, like a wiring glitch or a faulty sensor. Admittedly, I'm not too good with 'funky' surprises from my car especially when they turn out to be costly. I will indeed keep you all updated about how things are going. Keep those tips and experiences coming, fellas. It does help, a lot! And hey, same goes for me. If you've got something to discuss or need help with, feel free to drop a line. Cheers and take it easy!
