Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting a 2013 Mazda Atenza's Blower and Defroster Flap Control Issues

Blower does not work properly

Hey fellow auto-heads! My 2013 Mazda Atenza with a Gasoline engine is giving me some grief. The blower isn't working like it should. I'm suspecting something might be off with the defroster flap control. Has anyone else faced this issue? I'd really appreciate any insights or tips you might have, especially if you've managed to get it fixed by a professional - what was their diagnosis, how did they deal with it? Thanks a bunch!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2011 Mazda 6, they're pretty similar to your Atenza. I'm not a mechanic, so my expertise is limited, but I love learning about cars and solving problems on my own. In my case, I took it to my local workshop and it turned out to be a Servomotor cable connection problem. They fixed it up neatly and charged me 200 Euro in total. I reckon it might be the same issue for your Atenza. Could you possibly provide more details about your car, like specific symptoms or anything unusual you've noticed? It would help in gauging the problem more accurately.

Hey there! Thanks for the advice. Lately my Mazda has been making some strange noises, almost like a mild rattling, every time I try to turn on the defrost. Plus, the air just doesn't come out as strong as before. Last service was done at 192,562 KM. I'll definitely look into the Servomotor cable as you suggested. Appreciate your help!

Hey, happy to help! Rattling noises usually seem to come from some loose parts in the system. It could be a damaged blower motor, a loose fan, or something wrong with the bearings. Not to spook you, but just putting it out there. Now, regarding your air not blowing as strong, this might be a sign of a blockage in the airduct, or possibly, as you initially guessed, a faulty defroster flap. It'd be best to get it checked by a professional to exactly know the root of the issue. Don't worry too much about it, the Atenza is a sturdy car and these things happen over time with regular usage. Keep me posted on what you find out! Good luck with the repair.

Thanks! You've given me a good steer, I'll keep all those possibilities in mind. Looks like a trip to the local workshop is in the cards. Will definitely keep you posted on the findings. Really appreciate your insights, amazing the stuff you pick up being a car enthusiast, isn't it? Cheers for the help!
