Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting 2023 Seat Tarraco's A/C and Heating System Problems: Possible Heat Exchanger Temp Sensor Issue

A/C System Not Engaging

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Air conditioning blows warm air

Hey folks, I'm dealing with some weird issues on my 2023 Seat Tarraco with a gas engine. The aircon is only blowing warm air, the heating/cooling system is wonky, and it seems the entire A/C system doesn't want to engage. I have this hunch that it might be a problem with the heat exchanger temp sensor. I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this and could share their troubleshooting experience? How did the guys at your workshop sort it out? Really appreciate any insights or advice!

Hey, Faced a similar kind of mess with my 2021 Seat Ateca, just a coup'la years back. As far as car knowledge goes, I have some experience, I'm not exactly a mechanic but know my way around my ride. Anywho, my aircon was acting up just like yours, wouldn't cool for love or money. My workshop guys sniffed it out as a dodgy air conditioning control unit. Cost me a hefty 980 Euro. Felt it in the gut, but at least got me aircon cooling right proper again. Could you share a bit more on your vehicle? Like the mileage, any previous issues with the aircon, or unusual noises. Maybe I'd be able to give you some more detailed input then. Cheers!

Hey, thanks for your input! So, my Tarraco's pretty well-trafficked, it's got around 195227 KM on the odometer. No prior issues with the aircon, this problem just popped up recently, no warning. There haven't been any weird sounds, but the A/C seemed to struggle a bit before it finally conked out. Looks like I might have to prep for a hefty bill like yours if it turns out to be the control unit. Bummer. Thanks again! Cheers!

Hey there, Your car's mileage is quite high indeed! Given that you've never experienced any issues with your aircon until now, it's quite likely the wear-and-tear has just caught up with the system. If the A/C was struggling before dying out, there could be different elements at play here. It could, indeed, be something like a faulty A/C control unit, but it could also be a refrigerant leak or some issue with the compressor. If it's a worst-case scenario like the control unit, yeah, prepared to shell out a good chunk of change. If it's a leak, the costs could be less, depending on how much damage there is to fix and some recharge required. I recommend you take it to an experienced technician who can properly diagnose the problem. Don't let it wait too long, operating a busted A/C can cause more problems down the line. Trust me, been there! Good luck! Here's to hoping it's a relatively cheap and easy fix. Cheers!

Hey, Thanks for your insights, they're really helpful! It’s the age-old story I guess, the more we use something, the more it’s likely to wear down eventually. I guess I was holding out hope that it was a minor issue. You're right about not letting it wait too long and risking more damages. I'm going to take it to my trusted workshop first thing tomorrow and brace myself for whatever news comes. Here's hoping it's not the A/C control unit! Thanks again for your advice and the well wishes. I'll be needing that luck! Cheers!
