Hey there! Your experience with your V90 really rings a bell, sounds like we're in the same boat. I was suspecting a mess-up with the cable connection/plug of the water pump just like you mentioned. Just out of curiosity, do you remember how much it cost you to get the cable replaced and the connection fixed, and did any other issues pop up after the repair? I just want to gauge the possible damage to my wallet you know. Thanks again for the help!

Hey again, You're spot on with your hunch! When I got my problem sorted out, it was about 155€ to replace that pesky cable and reconnect the water pump. After putting my Volvo V90 through that fix, she's been purring like a kitten since, no more issues at all. The dreaded "message error between control devices" vanished, and my Korean motor beauty hasn't given me any more anxiety-inducing surprises. But, just to put your mind at ease, this fee was all-inclusive—labour, the new cable and nothing else hidden. So, fingers crossed, that's the only hole it'll burn in your pocket. Stay cool, and don't forget to find you a mechanic worth his salt!

Thanks a ton! I'll follow your advice and get the cable and connection fixed. 155€ seems like a reasonable price to bring my beloved S90 back to peak performance. Your assurance about no further issues has definitely put my mind at ease. I just hope I can find a mechanic that knows his stuff around Volvos. I'd rather not have another sub-par experience. I'm much more optimistic about getting this sorted out now. Cheers for your help and advice! You're a lifesaver!

Hey, Sounds quite similar to a problem I had with my 2019 Volvo V90 Cross Country. My car was just under 90,000 KM when I started facing these identical symptoms. Turned out it was indeed a defective in the cable connection/plug of the water pump, just like you're suspecting. To be fair, it was a considerable issue, it messed with the proper functioning of my car and gave me quite a headache. Had to replace the defective cable and reestablish the electrical connection to the water pump to clear the check engine light and other system warnings. Finding a good mechanic is crucial. I guess the trick is to find one who really knows his Volvos. Hope this helps and good luck!
