Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting 2022 Seat Tarraco's Performance Issues

Check engine light on

Poor fuel economy

Weird engine noise

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Hey folks, I'm a bit worried about my 2022 Seat Tarraco, Gasoline powered, with about 89,310 KM on the clock. Recently, it's been giving me a few problems - the check engine light popped on, it's been making some odd noises, gulping fuel like crazy and its power seems to be on the decline. Also, it jerks a bit when I step on the gas pedal. I'm thinking it could be a knock sensor malfunction but I'd like your input. Have any of you had similar issues and if so, how did your mechanic handle it? Bit wary about mechanics after a less than stellar experience last time around hence, trying to gather more info before I dive in. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I can totally understand your worry. I've got a 2019 Seat Ateca, pretty similar, but Diesel powered. Around 70K KM I experienced somewhat similar symptoms - the dropping power, bumped around a bit when accelerating, and my check engine light made a guest appearance too. My first guess was the air filter or the fuel filter. But it turned out that the issue was a cable/plug defect. In essence, this is not a hyper-serious issue but it will definitely deteriorate over time if not addressed promptly. The fix was quite straightforward in the hands of the right mechanic - they simply needed to replace the faulty cable/plug. Take it back to your garage as soon as you can. Educate yourself about it little more (look up some YouTube troubleshooting videos or forums dedicated to Seat models) before you drop it off at the mechanic's, it will give you a better edge in understanding the issue and its solution. Good luck, and don't sweat it too much. These things happen!

Hey, Thanks a ton for the quick input. I must say, your situation sounds strikingly similar to what I'm experiencing. This cable/plug defect you're talking about, I'm going to dive into some research on this and hopefully, it turns out to be something as 'simple' as that. Quick question though, do you recall how much you had to shell out for the repair? And since getting it fixed, have you come across any more problems or has it been smooth sailing? Appreciate your help here!

Hey there, No worries, glad to help out! As for the cost of the repair, it ran me around 95€ to get that pesky plug/cable sorted. Not too bad on the wallet considering what car repairs can run up to, right? And hey, good news on the knock sensor front, ever since I've seen the mechanic, it's been tickety-boo, all fixed up. Proper smooth sailing since then, like night and day compared to what it was before. Haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary or any new problems. The old girl's running like a dream now, and I'm back to enjoying the open road without a worry. Just remember not all mechanics are out to get you. Don’t let one bad experience keep you from getting your ride sorted. It's a journey to find the right one, but it's worth it. Stay cool.

Hey, Wow, 95€ for the repair isn't too bad at all! It's quite a relief knowing that - I'd been thinking I'd have to part with a thick stack of notes. It's even better to hear that your Ateca's been behaving well since the repair. That gives me some hope for my Tarraco. You're absolutely right about the mechanic situation. I suppose I just got a lemon that one time but under no circumstances should that deter me from keeping my car in good nick. Thanks again for the pep talk - it's really helped. I'll get my Tarraco to a mechanic pronto and will let you know how it goes. Take care and stay safe out on the open roads, my friend!
