Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting 2021 Seat Tarraco Hybrid's Faulty Key Fob and Lock System Issues

Locking/Unlocking issue

Key fob issues

Hey everyone, my 2021 Seat Tarraco Hybrid is acting up recently with what I believe could be a faulty car access system. I'm having issues with the key fob and the lock/unlock feature. Has anyone else experienced this? How was it resolved and what was your experience with the workshop? Any advice on troubleshooting would be a huge help. Cheers!

Hey there! I've rolled with similar issues on my 2016 Seat Leon FR which pretty much falls within the neighborhood of your model. For me, the culprit was the door handle's comfort access components. Just to give you a heads-up, I'm no motorhead, I've got some experience with cars but not a pro by any means. The workshop guys were absolute stars, they diagnosed the issue, confirmed it was a defective door handle component we were dealing with and successfully replaced it. Set me back by around €390 though so just be prepared for that. However, it's always better to have a more specific look into it, know what I mean? If you could share more info about your Tarraco, such as mileage, any unusual signs or noises before these issues started popping up, and how often the issue occurs, we might be able to pencil out a more definitive solution. Looking forward to helping you sort this out! Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for the feedback, it's really helpful to hear from your experience. My Tarraco's clocked in about 147,484 KM and had its last service a couple of months ago. I haven't noticed any unusual sounds or signs before the issue started; it really came out of the blue. As for frequency, it's been pretty unusual. Sometimes the lock/unlock works perfectly fine, other times not. Based on what you mentioned, I'm thinking the next step is to get it diagnosed at a workshop. I'm prepared for potential repair costs then. Cheers for the heads-up! Will let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Hey there! Glad I could be of help! Yep, with that mileage and the unusualness of the issue, it's making all the more sense to have it diagnosed professionally. And don't worry too much yet. Sure, it might end up being something like the comfort access components, or it could be as simple as a worn-out key fob. I've seen that happening to friends before, where the key fob just kind of gives up after a while. So, if you're lucky, it might be just a matter of replacing batteries or whole key fob, which would be less burdensome on your pocket. Do keep us posted on how it goes at the workshop - I'm curious. Good luck! And remember - even if it's a costly repair, safety and reliability always come first! Keep rollin!

Hey, thanks a ton for the perspective! That's a relief to know. I honestly never thought about the key fob, but your words have given me an alternate route to explore before getting anxious. Appreciate it! I'll definitely keep posting here to let you guys know updates or questions that I might end up having. I totally agree with you on the reliability and safety part, it surely tops everything else. Fingers crossed it's not too pricey. Catch you later! Keep safe and keep rollin' as well!
