Hey, car pros and enthusiasts, I need some advice. My 2020 Fiat Tipo with a gas engine has developed a few issues recently. The check engine and oil light are constantly on, it's overheating way too frequently, horrendous engine noises are making themselves known, and I've even started spotting metal shavings in the engine oil (yikes!). I'm suspecting the oil might be contaminated, but I'm open to your ideas. Has anyone faced similar issues and if so, how were they resolved at your workshop? Any experiences or tips you could share would be a massive help. Thanks!

Hey, I'm not a pro mechanic, but I've dealt with a similar issue on my 2018 Fiat 500X, likely a sibling to your Tipo. I'd say I've got some experience juggling these car problems. I brought my Fiat to my local workshop where they diagnosed it as a faulty oil pump. It fits the symptoms you've described. They sorted it out for me for around 625€. You know, it was a bit hard to part with that cash, but the peace of mind and the silenced engine were totally worth it! If you could give more info about your Tipo, mileage, maintenance history, etc., I could maybe help you out a bit more. Hey, appreciate your response! My Tipo's mileage recently crossed the 57406 km mark. The last service was done pretty recently, but this issue popped up out of nowhere. I think I'll follow your advice and take it to a professional, I mean, the sound alone is enough to give me a heart attack! Not to mention the oil pump issue sounds pretty serious. The oil pump issue definitely isn't something to be taken lightly, it's a vital part that ensures your engine stays well-lubricated. While the last service done was recent, the mechanics may have missed signs of a failing oil pump or the problem arose suddenly which does happen occasionally. Fingers crossed it's just an oil pump, the metal shavings can be a result of pump failure. Anyway, I'm keen to hear what the workshop crew say.
