Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting 2019 Mazda CX9 Engine Problems and Potential Incorrect Coding Issues

Engine shuts off by itself

Car won't start

Check engine light on

Fault stored

Hey there, car gurus! I've got a 2019 Mazda CX9 with a gas engine acting a bit off lately. Check engine light's on, there's unusual engine shut-offs, and starting the car is a mission on its own. Got some stored faults too, with my gut saying it might be an incorrect coding issue. Anyone faced similar problems or have any troubleshooting tips to share, especially how you got the problems fixed at the workshop? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there! So, I've got a 2017 Mazda CX7, pretty close to your model, and I've been through something similar. Note though, I'm not a mechanic - I have some experience, I'd say. Turned out, the issue in my case was due to a third-party chip tuning that had gone wrong. Took my ride to my local workshop and they quickly sniffed out the problem. They charged me around 180 Euro to get it sorted and it's been smooth sailing since then. Can you give more details about your car, like any modifications done or any unique feature? Might help me share more specific advice. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I haven't done any sort of modifications to my car, it's all still as original as when I got it. Also, I recently clocked in a mileage of 151213 KM, and the last service was performed a few months back, just regular oil and filter change, nothing else. Could it really be a coding issue, I wonder? Hoping the fellas at my workshop will figure it out, without it costing an arm and a leg! Anyway, I'll keep you updated. Cheers!

Hey, good hearing back from you! When you say it's all original, that lightens up one part of the mystery. Third-party mods do tend to mess things up, as it did in my case. As for being a coding fault it's a possibility. The symptoms you mentioned - check engine light on, engine turning off, difficulty starting - they all can be potentially linked to a software issue. Mind that these are quite common symptoms - they could indeed link to many other problems as well. Anyway, the part about servicing- regular oil and filter changes are good but sometimes these problems sneak up on you, especially with complex cars we've got these days. It's always worthwhile to get a comprehensive check done once in a while. The mechanics at your local workshop should be able to pinpoint and sort it out. If coding is the issue, they'd probably need to reinstall the software or update it. And about the cost, well fingers crossed it won't burn a hole in your pocket! I'm waiting to hear what you find out. More power to you!

Cheers! You've been a real taking the time to help me out. I couldn't agree more, cars these days are complex, feels like you need a degree in computer science to understand 'em! I think I'll do what you suggest and take a trip to the workshop for a comprehensive checkup. Y'know, considering what we've discussed, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's a software issue. So, fingers crossed it's just a matter of reinstalling the software or such. And yeah, let's hope it won't cost a fortune. It was great hashing things over with you. Will follow up with the final outcome just to close the loop! Thanks again. Best to ya!
