Hey! Thanks for the quick response. My Atenza uses the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 engine variant. About the mileage, she's done 114565 KM till now. As for a similar history, this is the first time I've run into such an issue. I guess your experience gives me a ballpark figure of what I might be looking at in terms of cost. Fingers crossed it doesn't burn too deep a hole in my pocket.
Hey there! From my experience with the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 in my Mazda6, the heavy load on the DPF can indeed trigger all the symptoms you mentioned. The mileage you've put on your Atenza suggests it's not a newbie and the DPF could indeed be internally defective as in my case. I had my mechanic do further testing to determine the DPF's condition. You might want to consider asking yours to do compression tests, leak down tests, and inspect the oil and coolant for contamination. If the DPF is indeed the culprit, it's a costly fix no doubts - but a necessary one. And hey, if it's any consolation, my Mazda’s been running smoothly since the DPF was replaced. Remember though, every case is different. So, take my advice - don't ignore the check engine light, get your Atenza checked out as soon as possible. I sure hope my experience can help you avoid any bigger damage to your car. Fingers crossed for ya! Keep the rubber side down!
No problem! Thanks for filling in the blanks. Affected DPF rings familiar from my experience with my car, similar engine type and all. I reckon you should listen to your instincts and get it checked out. The mileage does suggest that it could be a DPF related issue, especially given your car's irregular behavior. I was lucky to have a solid local mechanic who was swift with the diagnosis and the fix, though quite a blow to the wallet. Maybe you'll be lucky and the issue won't run up quite as many Euro. Thanks for giving me an idea of what to expect in terms of potential cost, doesn’t sound like a fun ride but here goes nothing! I’ll keep you informed about what unfolds. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. Cheers!
Hey! So, I faced a similar issue with my 2017 Mazda6 Diesel. It ain't exactly the same model but pretty similar, right? I'd say my car know-how is somewhere around 'some experience', I'm not a complete newbie but not a pro either. Like your Atenza, my Mazda was acting up with foul exhaust smell, check engine light and all that jazz. I hauled it to my neighborhood workshop, and guys there were pretty solid about diagnosing the issue. DPF internally defective was the diagnosis, cost me a cool 1550€ to fix it. Before I can give more detailed advice, can you share a bit more about your car? Any specific engine variants? Mileage? History of similar issues? That'll help me give you a better idea.
