Hey! I'm having some trouble with my 2018 Mazda Axela Diesel. I've noticed black exhaust smoke when accelerating, a persistent check engine light, reduced engine power, uneven engine activity, some jerking during acceleration and a loud hissing noise. It also stalls while idling, shakes at idle, and there's a whistling sound that's got me concerned. I'm suspecting something might be up with the Boost pressure control position sensor but not entirely sure. Has anyone faced similar problems with their Mazda Axela or any other car and have tips or advice on troubleshooting? Keen to know what your garage did to fix it or if there's something specific I should ask them to look at. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I've got a 2016 Mazda 3 SkyActiv-D which I guess is pretty similar to your Axela. I'm not a huge car expert or anything, let's say I've got some experience dealing with these mischievous machines. My car also had a few of the problems you've described and it turned out to be an Electrical bypass valve issue. I took it straight to my local workshop and they pinpointed the problem instantly. They had to replace that pesky little valve and it cost me 250 Euro. Now she idles like a dream and no more scary noises! I'd definitely urge you to have a professional check out that valve on your Axela. And just for more insights, can you tell me more about your car's condition? Any recent changes or work done on it? Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for the advice, that's honestly really useful. My Axela's got quite a bit of miles on her, 232089 KM on the clock to be exact. And yeah, she's had a few rounds in the garage - latest service was last fall, generic stuff, you know, oil change, filters replaced, etc. I reckon the Electrical bypass valve wasn't checked then but given what you've experienced, it sounds like that's a possibility here. I'll make sure to bring it up when I take her in next. Cheers!

Hey again! Glad to be of help. Yeah, with the mileage and age, it sounds like it's about time for an electrical bypass valve check. Honestly, these little troublemakers tend to start acting up at some point, especially on high-mileage diesel turbo cars. When you take your car to the shop, I'd also suggest you have them check the turbocharger. Some of your symptoms (like black smoke, drop in power, hissing sounds) could point to the turbo as well. Turbocharger issues aren't uncommon in our Mazda models. Anyway, keep us all posted on what you find. Hoping it's nothing too expensive or complicated. Fingers crossed and good luck!

Appreciate your detailed advice! Will make sure to ask the garage to give both the electrical bypass valve and turbocharger a look. Fingers crossed it's nothing major. Somehow trouble finds its way when you least need it, huh? Anyways, thanks again for your help and I'll keep you updated. Cheers!
