Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting 2017 Fiat Argo Power and Fuel Efficiency Issues

Loss of engine power

Check engine light on

Jerking on acceleration

Poor fuel economy

Unsteady engine

Hey everyone, I've been having some trouble with my 2017 Fiat Argo running on gasoline. She's showing a check engine light, has noticeably less power, her engine isn't stable, jerkiness on acceleration, and is guzzling more fuel than she used to. I have a hunch that it might be an issue with the intake manifold pressure sensor, but could really use your expertise on this. Did anyone experience something similar and how did you or your mechanic fix it? Awaiting your experiences, tips or fixes. Cheers!

Hey there, I've got a 2015 Fiat Punto - pretty similar to your Argo. I'm no car-guru, but I've messed about with cars a bit. Had the same headaches you're facing - that old check engine light, poor power, choppy runs, and she was drinking fuel like it was going out of style! Turned out you're spot on - it was the intake manifold pressure sensor messing up. The mechanic found the wiring harness was open or shorted. Had to shell out 95 Euro, not cheap, but she runs like a dream now. Just a suggestion, check your exact model and engine type. Different engines might have different setups, so that info would really help. Also, be sure to get a pro to look at it. That's what I did and haven't regretted it one bit! Good luck hope this helps a little.

Hey! Thanks heaps for your advice! Good to know that your issue was resolved and gives me a glimmer of hope. It's not about the bucks, just want the old girl to keep running smooth again. My Argo has already clocked up 99521 KM and had its latest service about 4 months back. So, I reckon these issues might be more due to wear and tear. Yup, definitely planning and get a pro to check her out. Just trying to be a bit informed before I get her into the shop. Appreciate the tip and will surely check the engine type details. Cheers again for your help! Wish me luck.

No worries! We're all here to help each other. Looks like your Argo has done some serious mileage - that could certainly lend itself to a bit of wear and tear. And like I said earlier, the symptoms you mentioned are very similar to the ones I experienced. Definitely have your mechanic take a good look at the intake manifold pressure sensor, and like you said, being an informed customer can only do you good. So, I think you're on the right track. Fingers crossed for you hope your ride gets sorted soon. Let us know how you get on! Best of luck!

Thanks for the prompt response and good vibes! It's pleasing to know that there's a community out there ready to lend a hand. Yeah, she's got quite a few miles under her belt but still has the heart of a racehorse. Hoping it's just the intake manifold pressure sensor acting up and we can fix her without punching a hole in my wallet. I'm booking an appointment with the garage for first thing next week and will surely share the outcome of the assessment. Thanks a ton for the guidance! Catch you around and have a smashing day! Cheers!
