Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! To answer your question, yeah, my 2007 SC does struggle with shifting gears; it's quite sporadic but getting more frequent, though there are no unusual sounds. It only has around 43120km on the clock, and I just serviced it not long ago. So, quite surprised that it's having such issues. Will try to get the cable connection checked out based on your advice. Cheers!
Hey! No worries I'm glad to share my experience! Your car's situation does sound quite similar to what I had. With the sporadic gear shifting and despite the recent service and low mileage. These cars are usually quite dependable, aren't they? My guess is the problem might not be the mileage or the servicing but probably a worn-out or damaged selector lever cable. I would definitely recommend getting a mechanic to look at it. Make sure they check the connections for corrosion or any sign of damage. Although the selector lever was my issue, bear in mind it might not be the same for your 2007 SC. Odd shifting can also be due to a faulty mass airflow sensor or a problem within the transmission itself. So, don't just settle on the selector lever and do get a thorough diagnosis. Fingers crossed it's only a small issue for you. Drive safe!
Yeah thanks heaps for guiding through the ordeal! Your insights have definitely put my mind at ease to some extent. You're right about Lexus reliability -that's why it was a bit of a shocker for me. Will take your advice and get the selector lever cable checked... and on the safe side, I might ask them to do a thorough overall diagnosis too, just to cover all bases. I hope it turns out to be a minor issue that can be fixed without burning a hole in my pocket! I appreciate your help and advice! Safe driving to you too! Cheers!
Hey! I had the same issue with my 2005 Lexus GS a while back. I'm no car expert, but I do tinkering here and there. Ended up at my local garage - turned out to be a damaged cable connection on the selector lever. They had to replace the old cable and adjust the new one correctly. Cost me about 365 Euro all in. Just a quick question though: Is your Lexus behaving in a similar way, like having trouble shifting gears or any unusual noises? Having more information about your car's symptoms could help pinpoint the issue better. Hope this info helps.
