Seeking Advice on Transmission Issues in 2010 Dacia Sandero with Gasoline Engine

Transmission slips/shifts erratically

Whining or grinding noises

Grinding noise when shifting gears

Hey! I've got a 2010 Dacia Sandero with a gasoline engine that's been acting up lately. I've noticed some transmission slip-ups, grinding noises when changing gears, and a bit of whining. Might be a transmission oil pressure issue, but I'm not entirely sure. Anyone experienced this before? How did your mechanic tackle this instance? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Dacia Logan not too long ago. I'm by no means a mechanic, but I do have some car experience to hold my own. On advice of my mechanic, we ended up replacing the transmission oil since it was running too low. Ran us back by €365, but it did the trick. You didn't mention the mileage on your Sandero - that might help nail it down. Can you share that? I'd be glad to possibly offer a bit more insight. Good luck!

Hey! Thanks for the response! That's a good shout about the transmission oil, definitely something I'll look for. My Sandero's at around 54800 KM, last service was not too recent, but I guess that won't do much good if the transmission oil's running low. Guess a visit to my mechanic is due. Thanks for the advice and the well wishes!

Hey again, Given the mileage, it makes sense - transmissions can start having minor problems between 40,000 to 100,000 KM. Your situation is pretty similar to my Logan's. It seems like you've used your Sandero quite a bit since the last service. I'd totally recommend heading to your mechanic to give it a thorough checkup. Maybe it's just the oil change that's needed, but then again, it may be more complicated. Either way, it will give you peace of mind and potentially save some serious bucks down the road. Remember to stick with good quality transmission fluid. It made a world of difference for my car. Best of luck!

Hey there, Great advice! Seems like I should pay extra attention to the transmission fluid quality - didn't think of that before. I've booked an appointment with my mechanic for this weekend and we'll look into this issue thoroughly. An oil change does sound like a possibility, but like you said, might be something more. Better safe than sorry, right? Appreciate all the suggestions and your time. Once sorted, I'll update you on how it went. You've been a big help! Cheers!
